      When to set alarm?

I'm not sure when to set an alarm, because it varies how long it takes for me to fall asleep, it could be up to an hour if I think about it. So should I just set the alarm for 4 hours after hitting the sack, or would giving it half an hour/hour breathing room hurt?

Setting it for 5 hours would be the best. The best time to do a WBTB or WILD is after 4-6 hours of sleep, so setting it for 5 will put you right in the middle.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

if you are lucky you will come out of a rem and quickly fall back into it after the hours mentioned above, if you are in delta or deep sleep it may be harder to stick through the wild but if you were to get up read the forums do a few RT adn then go back to be and wild you may find that boosts your success as well. Its all about mind frame

If you set your alarm for 5 - 5 1/2 hours after you fall asleep that puts you just before your longest REM cycle.

Anytime between 3-7 hours, roughly, but somewhere in the middle is best, like other said
