Atained Lucidity even though my RC refused to work

I had a extra weird moment in my dream leading me to think I'm dreaming so I RCd by placing my finger on my palm and pushing and it didn't go through. I felt pushing but it didn't go through like it usually does. I tried three times but it didn't work but I felt/sorta knew I was dreaming by then so I changed the landscape of the sky and made it dark and I was lucid.

Why didn't my RC work. It's the weirdest thing ever. Even when I was dreaming, I sorta knew It was a dream after the weird moment but I knew in the dream that the RC wasn't working and how strange it was.

Who else has ever had this happen or something along these lines.

Alot of things you know doesn't work in real life, also doesn't work in dreams. I have never been able to push my finger through my palm. Breathing with nose plugged is a much safer RC as it's hard to fail that one.

You don't need to do a RC to get lucid, I almost never do them and then realise I'm dreaming. I am already lucid when I do them and they work more like a stabilization technique.

Somtimes I have 5 fingers in my dreams, sometimes more than 10 total.

Exact same thing happened to me. I realised I was dreaming and decided to do the finger palm test to see what happened, finger didn't go through. I thought 'weird' then carried on with a kick ass LD

That reality check works just not for you at that momment, why??? cant say. I have had experiences also where something worked one time in a lucid but doesn't work the next time. Just look at it as a opportunity to experiment with other reality checks. With lucid dreaming there is no "A" your here "B" your there you just have to adjust to whats happening around you. thats why its a gd idea to soak up as much information about lucid dreaming as you can and ap info is also gd for ld's. namaste.
