What you describing is called Mantra.
It is a phrase, that you repeat, to reinforce an idea or intent.
"I am dreaming" is a very common mantra. You can repeat it to yourself during day. Best time though is to say it when you falling asleep. When you are between awake and asleep. That's the time, when your mind listens to you the best.
If you just repeat your mantra, that would be closer to technique called MILD - mnemonically induced LD.
If you ad RCs and awareness, that would be a DILD technique. I personally recommend adding RCs and awareness to your training. Induction Methods and Techniques
