A failure but possible breakthrough?

I could use some help here.

Today, during a nap, I attempted to WILD using King Yoshi's method. It failed, and I went into a pretty long dream sequence where I woke up a few times. At one point, I noticed I was only in my boxers (what I slept in), and I said "Am I dreaming?" and began to attempt a reality check, when my parents appeared and said no.

I feel I was close to DILDing right there, but I seem to miss something. Can anyone help?

I would try to replace the question 'Am I dreaming?' with 'Can I fly?' . I never ask myself (anymore, that is) 'Am I dreaming?' . I assume I am and can fly. It takes time but you will get there.

I have gone lucid sporadically, but I want consistency. I think I may adopt your method into a mantra tonight. My mantras tend to appear in my dream in some form.
