am i close to lucid dreaming?

This morning when i woke up i recalled around 6 dreams which is way more than the usual one per night. Towards the end of each dream/fragment i started to notice that things were very strange but i didn't quite realize i was dreaming. I think i remembered so many dreams from last night was because i set a timer to 4 in the morning and i stayed up for around 15 minutes then woke up into a false awakening. If anyone has any hints or knowledge to share with me that would be sweet.

Dang, way to go. I've never remembered more than three dreams in one night. I'd say just keep doing what you're doing - it's clearly working for you. (But I am FAR from being an expert, hahaha)

There was a time when I was recalling 6 dreams every night, sometimes maybe 7!!

Now I'm lucky to remember 2.

I think that noticing that things are strange is a very good sign. Patricia Garfield, in her book Creative Dreaming, writes of four levels of lucidity: 1) Something strange happens in a dream and we think nothing of it. 2) Something strange happens and we identify it as strange, but quickly think of an explanation: "Oh, my friend must be wearing a mask." 3) Something strange happens and we realize, while still dreaming, that we can't account for it. 4) The strange thing we see makes us realize we are dreaming.

      Remembering 6 is great!

I can not stress enough, WRITE DOWN ALL YOUR DREAMS IN A DREAM JOURNAL!!!

If I stop writing my dreams in my dream journal, I'll get to the point where I'm remembering between 0-2 dreams a night.

When I'm making an effort to write in my dream journal, I usually remember on average about 6 dreams. Often times, I'll have upwards of 10! And that's not uncommon.

Waking up between cycles is important. I think I started it by drinking a small glass of water right before bed. It made me get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. Now it just happens, and I don't have to think about it. Anyways, try waking up between every sleep cycle, and get out of bed, and write down everything you can remember...and if you can't remember anything, WRITE IT DOWN! I've had many times that just writing down that I can't remember anything will spawn a seed to the dream, and from that, I can sometimes fill a page.

It does sound like you are close. When I first started a few years ago, I think I had around 10 lucid dreams over about a year or so of trying. I then had 2 kids, and no sleep for about 3 years. I started this all up again about 3 weeks ago, and have had 5 lucid dreams, and went from maybe remembering 1 dream a night, to remembering an average of 6 again, like I used to!

Most important thing is to do your dream journal. If you don't remember your dreams, you are likely not going to remember your lucid dreams. After that, you need to increase your daily awareness, and keep lucid dreaming on the mind. You're close, just stick with it!
