      Interesting Phenomenon

Most of my lucid dreams thus far have occurred from me randomly realizing it's a dream for no apparent reason (or so I thought). I don't usually use reality checks in my dreams except to strengthen the dream after I have become lucid.

I've noticed recently, however, that most of my lucids have begun while I'm moving very fast, usually flying, but sometimes in a car or plane or something. It's not exactly a dream sign, since it isn't a very often occurrence. Nor does it stimulate some logical thought process such as "how could I be moving this quickly in real life... this must be a dream!"
It just suddenly makes me lucid.

Anybody have similar ld-inducing situations happen to them?

Out of 6 DILDs, in 5 of them I became aware while flying/hovering/hopping up on a fence (precursor to flying for me). Only once I was on the ground. But I have not noticed, that I became aware, because I'm flying.

Recently I was watching aircraft from the ground in a dream. They were moving so incredibly fast that my logical mind said 'no way' and I became lucid immediately. A DC standing next to me said they are vaporizing the air directly in front of the aircraft creating a vacuum so there was no resistance. That accounted for the speed. Weird stuff, eh?

I had a similar experience yet not quite as extreme. For my one lucid experience, the thing that inspired me to RC was the fact that the Walmart I was in just didn't look right and there was absolutely no people in it.

I wish I could recreate that moment of awareness again. The ADA exercises weren't working for me so I gave up

I use progressive muscle relaxation and visualization to attain LD's. Give it a try!

      Hey, that's an interesting thought!

Allow me to ask you a counter question. Could it be that moving fast is itself a sign of you being more aware than usual? I noticed that in some dreams I can spontaneously force jump, levitate, glide along the surface, and that sometimes triggers my awareness. But that is not a normal dream action for me, so the sequence is :
      Factor Z > fast movement > Awareness

Where fast movement may already indicate that your brain is primed for lucidity and does not work as usual.

Now if I extend this idea even further, fast movement may be a part of the fight or flight response, which is caused by adrenaline/adrenergic system. This one is more active while the person is awake.

Does this sound like a reasonable hypothesis?

In my lucid dreams I am usually always flying, and if I am not, I will myself too. I don't think I know what walking in a lucid dream is.
