Unhappy I've got this lucid thing down, if only I could sleep . .

I seem to have a big problem that I was hoping the lovely people of DV could help me with. For the past week or so I have been reality checking on a regular basis and have been trying to attain lucidity by using a MILD/WBTB method. However, the past two nights I have been unable to fall asleep, I simply just lay there feeling completely awake. No amount of auto-suggestion, going to the toilet or running around like a loony seem to tire me out
Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem while trying to lucid dream, and if so how did you overcome it?

Have you ever heard of void meditation? There is a tutorial on it in the DV Academy. I found that when I do that while lying in bed, I quikly fall asleep. The cause of your inability to sleep is most likely the fact that you are anxious about LDing, which is normal. Just relax. A lot of MILD tutorials say that you should try to MILD up to the point you actually lose conciousness, but this can also keep you awake. Do it for a while before going to sleep, and then relax. After all, LDing is easy. You WILL master it, no need to stay awake for it. Hope this helps!

      Hey Spyguy
Thank you that's helped me greatly, good to know that i'm not alone
I'll have a look at the tutorial you recommended now, I guess you're right about being anxious but it is difficult for a relatively new lucid dreamer to remain calm and have that level of confidence that is key to MILDing, well I find it is anyway, could just be me . . .

That's exactly right, but it'll work eventually. Could take a while, but it could also be tonight!

Just noticed when I did eventually collapse and fall asleep I did infact have a vivid dream, I only remembered it just now as I was scrolling through Youtube. Guess I should have stuck to my normal mantra of doing a reality check rather than just "fall asleep damnit " then I might have turned that vivid dream into a lucid dream, my luck I guess

Normally around 11ish with school and what not, and not much just normally on the PC and then off to unwind for bed
think I had these difficulties because my sleep pattern has been all over lately

and what time do you wake up? Get of the computer/tv for min half hour before you go sleep, and keep a regular sleep schedule, should see improvements.

      Hey,

Try the below link for the this new method called FID, it is suggested that with this method, the attainment of lucid dreaming has been perfected as it gets you a lucid dream every night. You just need practice, it should also help with your sleeping problem.
