Theory of vividity in a dream

      Hey everyone,

This is for anyone who is wondering about dream vividity.

There is a theory that dream vividity increases as you increase your stay in the dream. So the longer the time you stay in the dream, the more vivid and real the dream becomes, so you might not have to do anything to make it any more vivid but just stay in it longer.

This might also be true for the stability of the dream.

      Good luck.

You might be on to something here. One of my longest LDs ever was a little fuzzy at first. I remember having a sort of brown-out, then when I got my vision back, I was lying face-down in the grass. The scenery was one of the most beautiful, clear sights I had ever seen. By that time I had been in that lucid dream for quite some time. The others I don't remember so much. But it makes sense to hold out as long as possible (even before jumping into some crazy tasks that you wake up from too quickly), and allow things to stabilize. In the meantime one could go through a list of RCs. I don't see a downside to your idea.

This is true sometimes for me, however, other times I will transition automatically to an instantly more vivid dream. The last couple of lucid dreams I had, I would become lucid in the dream, then go through some sort of portal that I create and instantly everything became more vivid.

I have never noticed any correlation between dream lenght and it's vividity...

Sleep lab studies suggest are dreams become more vivid with each progressive REM cycle so the dreams you have near the end of sleep will be more intense then the ones at the beginning. I have never heard that the length of dreams increases vividness... but it just might! The study of dreaming is in it's infancy.
