It is hard to find the right balance. Too relaxed, and you fall asleep. Too focused, and you lie there all night with insomnia. Instead of focusing on sleep paralysis as your goal, try focusing on the dream as the goal. I can only WILD if I direct my attention away from my body, forgetting it even exists. Trying to catch sleep paralysis puts too much attention on my body. I will never space out enough to dream.
