      My Lucid Nightmares

I awoke from my latest nightmare about twenty minutes ago.
It bothered me so much, that after going downstairs for a cigarette, I decided to do some research on google, in an attempt to find others who may share the same heart pounding, terryfying experiences that I have.

To cut to the short, and before I forget, I will explain why my latest nightmare has me typing this on here at 'Daft O'clock, and my girlfriend sharing a bed with her five year old.

In this dream I was laid in bed asleep next to my partner, (as was actually happening). The door to the bedroom began opening, then closed again abruptly and I knew there was something bad on the other side of it. I have suffered with sleep paralysis since I was 17, and when I don't suffer from it during sleep, I dream that I am suffering from it, as was the case tonight.
I am able to call out for help during one of my episodes, tonight I was pleading with my girlfriend of three months to wake me up, as I had a good idea that I was having one of my dreams. She didn't wake me, even though she was awake watching me.
Then the frightening part was that in my dream(I know that it was a dream with hindsight, but I could not establish this at the time) I dragged myself from my state of paralysis(like I said, when it's not actually happening, I dream it's happening anyway) walked over to the door shouting swearing and threatening whatever was on the other side of it. I pull it open, ready to throw some punches, (nothing was there but a bad atmosphere) when my girlfriend comes up behind me, throws the quilt over me and attacks me like a demon. If I remember rightly it felt as though I was simutaneously been attacked by what was behind the open door.

I was only woken when my girlfriend laid next to me accidently hit the headboard, as she reached up to get her mobile, so she could record me.
I was angry and asked her why she didn't wake me. Her response was 'You Were Only Dreaming'. I don't like the way she mocks me when I have these truly petrifying dreams, and makes no attempt to wake me. Especially tonight after she confirmed that she heard me pleading with her.

I'm not sure what my point is after writing this. What I told you was only the back end of my dream by the way. At the beginning I knew I was dreaming. It was a good old 'Been chased across the desert by an extremeist that wants to torture me to death' kind of dream. I ended up killing said extremist, and then trekking along very steep cliffs, which were home to what seemed like thousands of wild horses - the sort of stuff normal dreams are made of.
It's only at the end of my dreams that things take a turn for the sinister.

I can talk to myself during these nightmares, but always lose my nerve after I get that feeling that somethings hovering over me, or that there is a presence in the room.

Anyway, I thought I would share that with you. I'm not sure if it has any place in this forum or indeed on this site, and if the mods wish to delete it then thats fine by me. It just makes me feel better putting it into writing.

But if there are any veterans of sleep paralysis, who have moved up to the next level as I feel I have, it would be good to hear of some of your experiences.
Or if there is anybody else who feels betrayed by their partner for not waking them when asked to during a nightmare, I would be interested to hear how you got over that.

Footnote: When the bedroom door usually opens and there is no follow up sound. It's usually the result of my girlfriends five year old son. I wonder if there is any significance in that. I do hope not.

      Hi!

Wow that's truly a horrible experience, I feel for you. Some people get mild cases of SP and others have extreme hallucinations and feelings of being in danger. I myself have only spasms in my arms and hands (although I've had epilepsy so it's a bit freaky) but I've trained myself to use the sensation of SP. Whenever I end up in SP I know that I'm close to entering a dream and achieving a few of my dream goals. Who knows what I might see? It's an amazing adventure just around the door.

What happens with your SP is that you "feed it your fear" and things escalade from there. You need to relax and know it's all happening in your head. Nothing in a dream can harm you. Try to mock those things you see, laugh at them or visualize another scene that you then enter. If you're learning how to lucid dream then ending up in SP alot is a real gift. That way you can master WILD or DEILD quickly.

Also, when you're in SP you can only moan and to other people you're lying still in your bed even though it feels as if you're thrashing about. SP is the middle ground between wakefulness and sleeping. Dreams begin to form there, and dreams are affected by what you expect to happen. If you expect horrible things to happen they will. You can beat this by training yourself.
