Ok, like I said earlier, I tried this technique months ago and eventually stopped due to lack of success. However, this thread has inspired me to give it another try -- and damn if it didn't work this time! Went lucid for the first time in months (finaly!)

It wasn't one of the best lucids as far as content and timespan, but I did remember hearing the low end of my pattern which told me that I was in the deeper stage of the cycle. This let me know that it was just a matter of relaxing and keeping in mind becoming lucid as I feel into sleep. Eventually, in the dream I did!

Funny thing, it was only one hour from the time the BWGen sequence started to the time I woke up from the dream. I was going to put my headphones on to finish the program, but decided to try and WILD instead. No luck.

I did read the instructions, it's not like I would go and make up something like that just like that.

That looks good to me, I have done that too (not maybe just the same, but close) and it looked like that. I have never tried it, could someone tell me how to but these on .wav files?

Just depend on what you are trying to accomplish queenofthestoneage.

Going up and down like your first preset does might work better for you than your second one does as it would tend to keep you in a semi-waking state during that entire time which might encourage you to have a lucid dream. You will just have to experiment with it to see what works best for you. Whichever one works best for you will be the one you will want to use.

To test the sound before going to bed by listening to it all the way through you can just change the time on the first page to one or two minutes and play the whole present real fast. After you are happy with it, then just change the time back to what it was before.

There are many, many different ways in which this program can be used, and it is good to see you are in there making up your own presets.

You might also want to experiment with different background noises. A very good background noise I found and have been using with my meditation preset is the lowtheta-a.wav that can be found under Other in the backgrounds if you download the other background file from their website.

One thing I notice about your preset is that you are tracking the Binary Beat Frequency in your audible pitch sound. You don't have to do that, but can if you want. I believe it puts that in automatically. If you find that this pitch is too high you can just take the checkmark out of the track option box, and set the pitch to whatever you want.

I generally start with a low pitch at about 125 or so and then raise it up to 200 about the time I expect to be dreaming, as well as raising my binaural beats up to at least 14.

After a couple of hours if I havent woke up I figure I have slept long enough, so then raise the frequency up to about 300, and the binaural beats up to about 60, as this never fails to wake me up.

Not sure what the problem could be Sinar, because I've had no problem installing it or running it. If you have an antivirus program, you might try turing it off before installing the Brainwave Generator ? If you have another computer, or know someone else with one, you might try installing it on their computer, to see if you have the same problem on the other computer. And finally, you might try downloading it again and see if that helps, as maybe you just got a bad download. I looked on their website and in the help index of the program and did not find anything on troubleshooting this kind of problem.

anyone want to do a quick explanation of what all the different sounds do?

side note/...that sleep inducing one acutally works lol

The different sounds or specifically the different binaural beats you can set up are supposed to move your own state toward the state of the sounds you are listening to.

Therefore to put yourself to sleep you would want to develop a present that starts somewhere in the low Beta where your current state probably would be and then move it the Alpha, then the Theta, and finally the Delta regions.

To try to become aware in your dreams you would then move the beats upward after an hour or hour and half, whenever you normally would be dreaming to a high Theta, or else somewhere in the alpha state.

To wake yourself up you would move it into the Beta region or higher. I've also found that starting out with a low pitch and then moving the pitch higher also makes me more aware and will wake me up, but am still working on just the right combination that will wake me up enough to be aware in my dream but allow me to continue sleeping

Below are the different levels you should set your program to in order to achieve these states.

Delta 0.5Hz - 4Hz Deep sleep
Theta 4Hz - 8Hz Drowsiness (also first stage of sleep)
Alpha 8Hz - 14Hz Relaxed but alert
Beta 14Hz - 30Hz Highly alert and focused

What do you know, it let me copy and paste this. Must just have to be done during the initial edit. I'll try copying a couple of my presents tonight.

There are a number of really good presets that you can study to see how to create other kinds of different sounds with one very good example being one of the presents that comes with the program, the one that simulates a helicopter sound, which they accomplish by changing one of the Modulation modules. It explains how they do it under the comments.

A good one to download under the preset libraries that shows just how incredible of a sound one can create with this program is the Mars Muzak undr the Meditation/Relaxation section, which is made with all very low binaural beats of delta and below, and is a very complicated one that uses 10 different voices, and a lot of other different settings. This is much easier to find if you click at the preset name title at the top to sort the list by the preset name.

Ugh...I don't really know what I'm doing at all.. I just tried to do what it said in the instructions (in the first post).
I guess I should just stick to the already made presets...Or maybe you have some kind of a preset or something (maybe an already made wav/mp3 would be easier?) 'cause like I already said, I have NO idea what all these buttons and boxes and whatnot do and mean. It's just too complicated I guess.

My biggest concern at the moment is dream recall though. My average is 1 dream a night and I'm trying to improve it. So if you have anything for that too I'd appreciate it.

You have the \"window\" on top of everything you might have on at the moment. Press \"Print Screen\"/\"Prt Scr\", it should be somewhere in the right upper corner of your keyboard. Now open MSPaint or something similar and paste it there, save it as a jpg or something like that to make it small and upload it here http://imageshack.us

Thanks for the info on pasting queenofthestoneage. When I get time I will try to paste a present in here.

Concerning the pitch window, it is the lower window under the Sound tab that says Audible pitch above it. What you put in here determines how high or low the sound will be. If you draw the bar between 100 to 200 the sound will be a lot lower pitched than if you draw the bar around 900 to 1000. You can control the level of the pitch, but you will have to take the check out of the track another parameter box in order to be able to put what you want in there.

There are so many windows and dialog boxes that a person can bring up and put things in that this program is a little overwhelming at first, but once you've made a few presents you will start to understand it. Probably the best way to learn how to use it, and it would be well worth your while to learn how to build your own presents rather than just use others peoples, is to just print out all of the help files, and then go through them one at a time and build examples of the things they explain in the help files. And it probably wouldn't hurt to go thru them two or three times. That's how I learned to use the program, but I am still learning things about it because I've only been using it a couple of months.

i havnt used this specific program yet but, does anyone know if generators are 100% safe or not? i use the mp3s mixed with other sounds but havnt tried just waves yet.

there weird and boring and dont help me at all i did not have any results whatsoever with the BWgen

I don't think there's been enough research into whether the generators are safe or not. Sound can kill you at the right frequency and force. I doubt the preset frequencies in BWGen and similar programs would do much harm, but it's always possible they could do some. Anyone found any academic research on Binaural beats? There seems to be precious little, and it's pretty easy to measure brainwave activity.

well the hemisync website says theyve been doing it for 40 years safely. ill stick with that one since its made for dreaming.

Well I wouldn't worry too much, I doubt a PC and a copy of BWGen could do it. I'm talking stuff like infrasound. Extreme I know, but I think it's a good reminder that sound can have quite a powerful (and negative) physical effect on us.

Using an MP3 mixed with waves is exactly how I would use it, as the waves can be boring just by themselves. I use the waves to put me asleep and then wake me up, but use the mp3 to give me suggestions on remembering my dreams and becoming lucid, in addition to adding other relaxing music in with them.

Most commericlal cd's you will find on lucid dreaming use binaural beats or waves in the background of them, as they are just built in, and if you learn how to make your own mp3's using programs like Goldwave, or Multisequence, and Brainwave generator, you can then blend in your own binaural beat file right into your own custom made mp3.

Why remain at the mercy of someone else's mp3 file when you can build your own custom mp3's that sounds exactly the way you want then to, and give you exactly the suggestions you want them to.

That's what I thought at first, I downloaded this program some time time ago and I have used it quite rarely and never in LD'ing. BUT I always listen to music, always when I can, I cant even be at computer without listening to music and I have noticed that when I read something English text for example (as you can see, my motherlanguage is not English ) I sometimes use BWG and it helps, I can listen to it without music!

Ok. I finally figured out how to add an image. You geniuses who figured out how to upload these images should surely have no problem learning how to use this Brainwave generator program, because you just have the kind of genius it takes to learn this..

This is an image of a preset I built to help me remember my dreams. It starts out with a low audible pitch of 120 and a low binaural beat of 2, then after 60 minutes raises the pitch to about 180 and the binaural beat to around 20 in an effort to make me more aware and bring me out of the deep sleep. If this hasen't woke me up, then after 90 minutes I raise the pitch to about 240 and the binaural beat to around 40. This almost always wakes me up in the middle of a dream, if I haven't already woke up. But if I still haven't woke up, as happens occasionally, I continue raising pitch and binaural beat until at the 2 hour mark or 120 minutes, the pitch is close to 350 and the binaural beat is at 80. If I have not woke up by this time, this almost always wakes me up, although I have on occasion even slept through that for 15 or 20 minutes.

This is similar to a progressive alarm that continues getting louder and louder as time goes on until it eventually becomes so loud that it is bound to wake a person up.

I have currently abandoned this present because although it helped me remember a lot of dreams, it did not help me to become lucid in them, as it completely woke me up, although I did have about a dozen WILDs while listening to this preset last month, and am currently working on a preset that will just spike up for a couple of minutes at the 66 minutes and 90 minute marks and then continue to spike up and come down quickly every 7 or 8 minutes after the 90 minute mark with hopes that this will wake me up only partially and allow me to fall back into the dream and become lucid. With this I also plan to create an MP3 with a text-to-speech program that will give me suggestions at the times my brainwave preset spikes to tell me I am aware and lucid in my dreams. Will let you know if it works.

I'm not and expert at this, and what works for me may not work for someone else, but this should at least give you an idea of something you might want to try for yourself.

I know you told me to learn to use the program but I just wanted to try that..

I hope this works for you. I learned a lot by studying some of the presents included with the Brainwave generator, and from some of the more complicated presents like the Mars Muzak that I downloaded from the Brainwave Generator site, but I wouldn't waste too much time experimenting with other peoples presets because many of them know very little more about what they are doing than you will, as you will be able to tell by their simplicity, as most of them are only 10 minutes long.

Don't hesitate to adjust the pitch or binarual beats to suit your own tastes, as the best way to get this to work is by making the adjustments that work for you, as I've done many times in the middle of the night.

Hopefully, I will be able to get a preset made up that will wake a person up only partially instead of fully, and then allow the person to become aware that they are dreaming, as that is my goal.
