How do I become better at this?

I've been trying to have lucid dreams for a while and i noticed that I usually have them when i can focus on lucid dreaming (e.g. thinking i'm good at LD over and over) until i fall asleep. Every time I WBTB and focused long enough i had a LD.

The problem is that most of the times i just get lost in my thougths and fall asleep thus not achieving lucidity.

So how can I get better at focusing until i fall asleep?

Practice being aware during the day or try meditation to get used to remaining aware while letting your body fall asleep. I find myself falling asleep by accident, too. I've been trying for a little over a month now. It takes practice and commitment.

      I agree with OneirosOnkelos.

My guess is that you could try to WBTB at different times (do you wake up with an alarm clock?),
or to go to bed sooner, if that's a possibility for you, so you're less tired.

Yes, i'm waking up with alarm clocks but i'm trying to learn how to do it without them (i find it hard, don't know why).

I definitely agree with the above posts, do keep practicing. I also have problems sometimes with staying awake enough and usually the only way I can fix this is by staying up a little longer or doing something intensive like maths or a card game. Everyone is different though so you will have to find the right balance of awareness and drowsiness for yourself.
      Good luck

I find that just laying there when you go to bed helps. For me I can think of all things that are on my mind etc. and get them out of the way. It also helps keep awareness, kind of a warm up session but just staying awake. When I go to bed and try a a WBTB-WILD it's slightly easier to focus on what I want (Like mantras for example)
