      what's the difference..

what's the difference between WILD and MILD after a WBTB?

is it that MILD does not rely upon trying to retain consciousness while you fall asleep?

Just the same difference as it is when you're not doing WILD/MILD not during WBTB.
with WILD, you are entering the dreams state while you are conscious therefore already lucid and with MILD you become lucid when already in the dream state.
When you apply WBTB, it's the same thing.
