False Awakenings If You Can't Sleep

Everyday I go to bed, whether I'm super tired or not, I find it really hard to fall asleep. So, I turned this into a good thing by giving myself a false awakening and turning it into a lucid dream. Here's a simple how-to on achieving a lucid dream during these frustrating nights.

When you can't sleep, you usually fall asleep and then wake up again. This is the frustrating part. So what I did was that every time I wake up like this, I'd tell myself to do a reality check. I'd try to push my finger through my palm or see if I can breathe with my nostrils plugged, and keep assuring myself it'll work. The catch is simple - you must do this every time you wake up, even if you're really tired (you may perform a WBTB if this is too stressing for you, if you remember a dream).

Eventually, you will fall asleep. Now normally you will start going through your sleep cycle and start dreaming, but this time you may have a false awakening. Due to your self-promise to do a reality check every time you wake up, you will do a reality check - and it'll work! You'll become lucid.

Overall, this technique is basically attempting to have a false awakening, but having an intention to do something after you have one. This technique is good for people like me that take hours to fall asleep. Hopefully this can help some beginners.

That's great. In addition, it would also be good for people to practice doing reality checks everytime they wake up, no matter where they are. That can catch help catch FAs on the future.

      Cheers!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
