I personally think that the simpler the RC, the better.
It should be something with a really obvious yes/no answer, eg. Can I breathe while my nose is blocked? No = awake. Yes = dreaming.
There are many more variables with your idea, because it's not just limited to two simple outcomes.
Something else to keep in mind is that you really need to believe it's possible that you're dreaming (and therefore, that the world may behave unusually), even if you feel certain that you're awake.
For example, take the RC where you try to push your finger through your palm... You really need to believe that it's possible, and try to visualise this happening as you perform the RC.
For me, this RC is not effective, because I find it really hard to convince myself that my hand is not solid, especially when I'm sure that I'm awake. This belief has transferred into my dreams before and the RC has been unsuccessful (meaning, it behaved as it would in waking life, despite the fact that I was dreaming.)
So, have a think about whether you can really convince yourself that a 'dream menu' will pop up when you swipe your fingers, even when you think you're awake. If you can't, then your mind may not produce that result when you're dreaming, either.
