      Question Subconscious did the opposite

So I became lucid last night as I was staring at my feet in the dream. The first thing I did was calm my emotions. Then I said, "Make it look like the real world." Nothing happened. Next I said, "Make it feel like the real world now!" As soon as I shouted that my legs and feet grew fat and long (very unrealistic) and I woke up. -__-

Can someone tell me why my mind didn't listen to me and make the dream more vivid? I was told you can say what I said or simply scream "clarity!"

Dreams are funny that way. Sometimes you can control them, and other times they play games with you and have fun at your expense, unless you surrender and agree to laugh with them instead. Some people say they can have full control in dreams, but most people's control is not complete at least not in early dreams. Then there is also the question: do you really want to have complete control of your dream whenever you try, personally I think your lucid dream was fun and kind of cool how it did the opposite of what you demanded of it.

Maybe you just weren't specific enough, Hunterkiss:

Asking your dreaming mind to make your dream seem like the real world is a pretty major task, even if it did understand you (or, I suppose, if you understood you). I have trouble imagining what the real world is right now, while I'm sitting in it and can contemplate it with my full waking faculties... I got no idea what I'd come up with if given such a task in the midst of a dream!

Maybe next time you can be more gentle, like asking for a door through which the world will be brighter, or actually just scream "Clarity!" -- though that never worked for me...

Simpler is always better, I think; complexity, and vividness, will likely follow after your dreaming mind gets more used to your waking mind's requests. Meantime, enjoy those big feet!
