Thumbs up Suggestions on attaining lucidity?

I've had two lucid dreams thus far. I've been trying so very hard to have another No luck. 7/6/12 my 23-year old son passed away in an accident. The night of 7/7, he was sitting in a chair in my room. As I approached him, he stood up and I said "I knew you wouldn't leave me" and he looked at me and said, "Mom, I'm gone now" and I started crying and begged him to please come back. He grabbed me and hugged me and said he would be back but it would be a while because he had work to do. I smelled his hair, I felt his hair, I felt his arms - it was absolutely real to me. Before he passed away, I had never read about lucid dreaming, astral travel, ADC's, etc. After he passed, I delved into everything I could and read a lot about the "work" we do in the spirit realm. When skeptics tell me that it was my subconcious bereavement that caused the dream and that's all it was, I ask then "how his words to me about 'work to do' could enter my subcouncious if I never heard of that before? I have bought a zillion meditation cd's to try and have another dream - to no avail. Any suggestions or do I just wait and hope? Thanks for your time

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Firstly, welcome to dreamviews and check out this section for some starting information: Welcome
If you want to practice lucid dreaming, first thing you need to do is to start a dream journal and write/type any dreams you can recall each night. It will improve dream recall and will increase chances of getting lucid. For ways to improve dream recall you can check this thread: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-sign...ompendium.html
Also pick an reality check and use it in waking life to increase your awareness and question whether you are dreaming or not, more tips on reality checks and awareness: http://www.dreamviews.com/dild/13212...ods-dilds.html
Also pick an method and technique and read tutorial: Induction Methods and Techniques , i'd suggest DILD since most of people having good success starting with it. You can also visit intro class in Dreamviews Academy, which is a good place to start out: Intro Class

Hey Reebe. I will suggest a variation of DEILD that "may" be easier than using imagery, but requires a bit of boldness in entering. I wouldn't usually suggest trying this right off the bat because the dream can be often very unstable until you learn control, but it may give you a boost of confidence

First of all, if you do not have good dream recall, then I do not recommend this as it will interfere with your progress in that area. Basically the idea is to become aware each time you start to wake up (like a normal DEILD) except that instead of waiting for imagery or a dream, you simply focus on hearing the sounds of your inner ears for about 5 seconds or so; trying not to think too much. Imagine you are now in your dream body, and then simply rise without using muscles (you will understand when it works). You may feel vibrations or you may not. Many times when you rise you may think it did not work until you begin to scrutinize the situation.. If it does not work, then on each subsequent waking attempt try different techniques, such as rocking back and forth, moving your arms without muscles, etc.

If you wait too long to try this or you move too much, then go back to the normal DEILD method of dream entry. Naturally, I could be completely wrong about this being comparatively easier for other people, and if so then I apologize. I figured it's worth a shot; it seems you have been trying for some time.

Of course, you will want to read some of the excellent DEILD and WILD tutorials on the site first to better understand the underlying principles. Good luck.
