      Attaining lucidity an art?

Do you think that attaining lucidity is an art or a skill?

      If so , why?

How do you know if you are improving at that art/skill , if it is one ?

      Thoughts?

I would say both. Within lucid dreams, you can do so much.. and you can express yourself in however way you want, i think that's what makes it art. And for skill... well.. it doesn't come naturally for everyone!
I would say for the second last question.. if you're a DILD person, if you have random burst of awareness and question your dreaming, you're on the right track.

How would one define biologically a random burst of awareness? Why should "us creatures" experience random bursts of awareness? What would cause that? What is in control of causing that?

Both an art and a skill. Everyone can learn it, some easier than others (skill), but it is certainly an art, because you can do anything, anywhere, with anything and/or anyone. It is the best thing ever, because you can do ANYTHING you can in waking life, and much much more.

As for what creates boosts awareness, I'm not a pro in psychology, but what 'controls' it is a complicated mix of your personality, the way your trains of thoughts work, what you know/understand/etc. (= the data in your brain, where it 'placed', links between and sizes of brain departments, etc.) and environmental influences. Because there is no way to exactly figure that out and it constantly changes it is impossible to calculate/predict them and they therefore seem completely random.

I am ashamed of my personality, being logical and "smart" is worthless, it hinders me. I watched a video about a woman (Scientist) who had a stroke, bleeding in the left side of her brain, she had to have surgery. But on the day of the incident she described how wonderful the world seemed once the left side of her brain was disfunctional. I want to disable my left side of my brain, let go of ego and anything else which makes me horrid and self centered. The problem is that i do not know how, if only i knew ...

I had an idea that i should try to stop being right handed in life, since the left hemisphere is said to control the right side of the body. If i could be dominantly left handed would that make my right hemisphere kick in? Also i think its the same reason why i can't be lucid, because the "i" part of me is only activated in the left side and when we sleep perhaps the right is dominant , get me ? I know its all theories and guesses but thats all i can seem to do with the limitted knowledge i have.

Never be ashamed of who you are. Have you tried meditating?

I try ... but i get inpatient until my bladder is full or i feel hot or hungry. I want something amazing to happen, to trip into a dream, a virtual world, where i have no fear ... but i am such a scared person deep down. I doubt that anything spectacular could happen to me since i am always too afraid to face it.

Then empty your bladder first.. eat food a while before, and get yourself comfortable.
There is nothing to fear but fear itself.

It's definitely both. It can also depend on why you lucid dream, what you do, etc.

      I consider it:

-an art, in the sense that being creative can define your progress in lucid dreaming.
      - a skill, in the sense that you improve it by time and experience and by your natural skills
      - a way of life, especially if you're a DILDer. In the end, striking for awareness is something it works in both the sleeping and in the waking world
