      Was I dreaming?

Ok so recently as I was going to bed, my body was very relaxed, and I wandered into my own mind. I found myself in what I thought was a dream. It was very vivid, but it didn't seem like I was there. It felt like I was creating it in my head, like a visualization?
Anyway, there were people talking although I don't remember the whole conversation. I then found myself asking one of the people a question to get the reply "Well you know that, you're dreaming." and out of no where I was back in my waking state just as if nothing happened.

Any ideas of what this could of been? I'm convinced it wasn't a dream however i'm not sure.

Very difficult to tell. I suspect you were somewhere between hypnagogic hallucinations and a day dream, and didn't quite fall asleep.

I've manipulated hypnagogic hallucinations before, both in sound and sight form. They are precursors to a dream, but are not quite a full dream.

That's happened to me before too. It is really confusing after it happens but I think it's just a vivid daydream.

It's the hypnagogic state. It's normal. Happens to me all the time. Have fun with it.

Honestly. It may or may not be a dream, but it doesn't matter much, since it isn't real. It is all happening in your head. It is one of the states between awake and asleep.

I'd say it's up to you to decide, could be either vivid HH or dream forming, really depends on what you feel, for me personally recalling a dream when waking feels entirely different from HH.
