      Problems with WILD/MILD

I can't seem to get either of these to work at all.I read all about them in the Tutorials Section, even looked them up using Google.

Last night I woke up around 4:30 AM, and decided now would be a good time to WILD, so I laid in bed, tried to relax, and waited for the rest to start happening.......it never did, I dont even think I reached the Sleep Paralysis Stage, and that was after 2 hours of trying...

I had the exact same problem the night before when I tried to WILD....

Is there a certain position I should try laying when trying? Or a certain time that I should try, like how much sleep should I get before waking up and trying to WILD?

      Welcome and stuff!

For position, lying on the back is a popular one. I can't really fall asleep easily on my back in general, so I end up shifting to my right side eventually. I guess it depends on how tired/drowsy you are. If my eyes are all but closing on their own, I'll lie on my back, since it's slightly less comfortable, and that much easier not to fall asleep. If I'm trying to do something non-WILD, then I'll lie on my right side, simply because that's my most comfy sleeping position.

I got to the vibrations stage, so I guess I can tell you how I did it.

It was 3:00pm, I just finished a filling lunch, and I just drank a glass of milk.

I did some stretches before going into bed, mainly my calves, feet, neck, spine (yeah i can crack all that )

I went into bed, pretended i was going to sleep and got into a comfortable position. This helped me find a good comfortable spot. Here, I lay still, as still as I possibly can for 20 minutes. I didn't move anything, well, I moved my eyes and I swallowed my spit After about 20 minutes, I felt that every limb was numb, and I was only controlling my breathing.

At this stage it's hard to explain what to do, but ill do my best.

After getting numb, you have to let your mind be free of all thoughts, just thinking about your breathing and not focus your eyes on anything. You should start to feel your mind drifiting away. Do not let your mind drifit completely away because you'll fall asleep. I kept counting and focusing my attention on the counting & breathing. So basically here you are only in your mind.

Shortly after this I felt myself sinking into my bed, and starting to spin. This is such an amazing feeling. I knew that i was not really doing summersaults inside my bed, but then again, it did feel like flips.

      Remember not to move.

Here's where I stop, because i dont know what to do next. After the flips came to a stop. I could feel my heart beating rapidly, and my breathing faster, I knew the flipping excited me causing me to lose focus.

What normally comes next? And how much longer do I have to wait for it?

The only thing that has gone numb with me, is my left arm, and that goes numb pretty fast... but aside from that, nothing else will go numb.I really want to get that virbrational stage, that sounds like fun from what i've read.

Wait this is important. I feel like I’m flipping every night before I get to sleep! I go all numb before I fall asleep is there something I’m missing out on! I thought this happened to everyone when you are falling asleep? But kastro187420 this was the first time the felt them?!? What have I been doing to make these things happen!

Does it feel like your beds spinning and your falling with it? It does to me! And if I open my eyes then it stops! Do you all get this or just me?

I have exactly the same problem. As soon as the weird sensations stop, you're just lying on your back wondering if you've managed to start dreaming. You open your eyes, do a few RC's... but no.

I believe the trick is not to get too excited. I managed vibrations on my first attempt, too.

Oh, and if you open your eyes and you're still in your room, remember to RC. There's a 50% chance that it's an FA.

50% chance you say!? What about the flashing lights and stuff in your eyes? I DID do an RC though after my vibrations, thought maybe it worked, it didn't.
I didn't do my WILD after normal sleep, I did it during the day ( nap )

So, could a pro tell me how much longer I have to wait after the vibrations stop in order to see the flashing lights?

by the way, I thought I had my first MILD last night, but it was just a ND where I went "fake lucid"

Sounds like your problem is more with WILD than MILD. I too, was very interested in WILD and tried a few times with very little success. Then I realized that maybe I should just try to become better at inducing regular lucid dreams with MILD. I mean, trying to go strait to wild is like trying to go strait into the major leagues. As soon as I stopped trying to wild and focused my efforts on mild after WBTB I got results. In 4 days I got lucid 3 times. My new goal is to become very good at normal induction techniques and then, in time, move onto the more difficult things like WILDing. Either way... I wish you good luck!!!

well thanks for the help, i'll try to again tonight maybe...

When I wake up at like 4 AM, that usually gives me 4-5 Hours of sleep, then I try it... but it just doesn't work....I feel left out, I can't even get to the SP stage of WILD, yet you guys could get to the Vibrational stage....

It sounds like you have a good start. Now instead of doing it at naptime, try it like this...go to bed earlier than usual, wake up in the early am, anytime between 4 and 7 (depending on your schedule) and stay awake for at LEAST 60 minutes ( I do 90+, but no more than 2) then try your WILD technique, and it's pretty easy to slip into dream. I think the problem you're having is that you're not really tired enough to fall into deep sleep, also, it's been too long since you've been in REM sleep. All you're really doing is reaching a deep state of relaxation and meditation. If you want, send me a PM and I'll send you an article on it. I'll also try to help you to the best of my ability to get a WILD.

well with me, when I wake up, if im up for more than 15 minutes, I can't get back to sleep...

But I think im making progress with MILD, these past couple nights in a row I have become aware that I was dreaming, and that was after waking up for about 5 minutes, then going straight to sleep again without even thinking about anything.

even if you think you won't be able to get back to sleep, it can't hurt to try. that's why it's good to wake in the middle of the night when you're usually sleeping. try staying up for at least an hour, you should start to feel drowsy after that much time. try watching a movie. it can't hurt to try! you never know what's going to suddenly work for you!

well the reason I know I'll stay awake is because i've tried doing that before.
I went to bed at 10:30 PM, woke up at 1:30 AM (4 hours later) and stayed up like it said in a tutorial.... I ended up not going back to sleep until 12:30 AM the next day...

Thats the main reason I think im having such a hard time with WILD, I can't seem to stay up long enough to do it, and when I do, I can't fall back asleep...

Dude mild is hard Your problem is that you're too excited, you're thinking about WILD too much. Do what I do in my head, visualize numbers and concentrate on them while breathing. So basically

BREATHE IN - visualize the number 1 in your mind
BREATHE OUT - visualize the number 2 in your mind

Maybe you should try this, this helps me so much. Have you ever used a bong? No seroiusly. When you're on a bong, you feel your mind drifting away from you body. This is what I can kinda do by myself to reach the numbness. I dont call it SP because im not really parazlyed I could if i wanted to move my hands or whatever. I dont smoke bongs though

Another tip would be to get completely tired. Run a few miles (4 usually gets me tired enough) take a shower, get dry, brush teeth, eat string cheese, wait 5 mins, get into bed, start counting numbers

I can't get past the damn vibrations yet, im going to use some breathing technique people suggested that helps them not lose control.

      Goodluck!

Don't do wild at night, not even I can concentrate on the numbers, i fall asleep almost always, do it during the day. put in some ear plugs, and shut the shutters

I can't do it during the day, theres way too many distractions going on where I live. Not to mention theres TV that needs watchin lol.

At night is the only time its quiet enough to for me to fall asleep.
