Can Magic Eye pictures improve your visualization skills?

Yesterday I finally started being able to see those "hidden images" inside random-looking pictures - you know, those images that suddenly "come out" of the picture if you stare at it in a certain way - and I was wondering if this could improve your ability to visualize dream scenes during VILD and similar techniques?
I mean, it really did feel a lot like I was entering a lucid dream when I was staring at those pictures and suddenly saw a completely new scenery coming out of them, and it would often become more and more detailed and clear if I kept observing it, until it literally looked like it was floating a few inches outside of the original picture.
Shouldn't this count as a form of visualization ability?

When I hover between dreaming and waking, with closed eyes, then images appearing before me may also "feel" like those 3D "magic" images. Maybe there is something there ...
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

It probably doesn't improve your ability to visualize in itself. But I know what kind of pictures you mean and the concentration skill, if one finds these images difficult to see, can probably be trained. And this skill is useful for visualization. And perhaps you practise some other skills as well.

On the other hand the vividness of your visualizations are determined by your ability to focus your attention or a better word would be awareness on one thing.

But don't listen to my goofy theories... Try it out and tell us!

      I don't think it would
Those two things aren't that much related at all

      During visualization you create something
In those pictures your looking for something

If you want to improve your visualization skill, you might try to visualize stuff in real life or daydreams
      I'm back! Again? Uhhh..

I guess it depends on the actual part of the brain being used when you do this exercise. Generally I normally associate visualisation with 'closed eyes,' but as you know you can 'see' things with your eyes open under certain circumstances (like sleep deprivation, etc.) for example.
However in saying that I do find it interesting that as of yesterday you are able to now 'see' the pictures like you have been training to some degree.
It probably is helpful to yourself as according to your post you are relating it to an LD-type experience, so you could try it as an incubation during WBTB maybe to give you the right mindset and take it from there.

How much would be down to placebo then I dunno? but if it gets you in the right mood for an attempt then that is half the battle over.

      Good luck.

      YES it works!

i´ve been using these magic eye pix for nearly a year for improving my visual skills.
a while later i noticed that my visualization abilities also improved.

so YES, i can confirm your assumption. go for it...
