Just to clarify my last post - I was not trying to tell the topic creator to "avoid" WILD or anything ( ), it can work great for some people, but if you feel that you are having problems with it, since it does require a certain balance between staying aware and falling asleep (which not everyone finds easy to master at first) then it is probably better to try something different.
And in my opinion, the single most important thing to focus on is excellent dream recall, because obviously you will need to be able to remember as many dreams as possible to have the best chances to remember any lucid dreams that you have.
And indeed, the simple decision to remember your dreams as much as possible can make you so focused on dreaming that it will usually improve your chances to become lucid as well.
So this is definitely a very important first step towards having frequent lucid dreams.
