      Testing SSILD for 60 days

I'm gonna be testing the SSILD technique for 60 days and I will post what happened on each day.

The reason I'm doing this is because I learned the SSILD technique just a few days ago and tried it for 2 consecutive nights and I got 2 lucid dreams, one on each attempt!!! so that's 100% of effectiveness so far even though I'm a total noob! I can only imagine how reliable this technique could be if I become an expert

Now I will briefly describe what I did on the 2 successful attempts from last week.

      For the WBTB part:

      1. I went to sleep at around 2:30 a.m.
      2. My alarm went off at 8:20 a.m.
      3. I recorded the dreams I had in my DJ (wich were very short and not very vivid)
      4. I stayed up until 9 a.m.

      Now for the SSILD part:

      1. At 9 a.m. I started doing the SSILD technique
      2. I lay down comfortably
      3. I passively focused my attention on my vision for approximately 20 seconds, focusing on what I saw (just blackness and a few random shapes behind my closed eyelids) but not expecting to see anything.
      4. Doing the same with my hearing for approximately 20 seconds too, focusing on what I heard but not expecting to hear anything
      5. And lastly the same with my Somesthetic Senses (touch), feeling the blankets and some vibrations.

I was supposed to complete 4 sets of focusing on my vision, hearing and touch and by the 3rd set I was already about to fall asleep but I managed to complete the 4 sets.
(If you want to see the steps for the SSILD technique in more detail check this out: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...eam-ssild.html)

What happened next is I was dreaming and suddenly realized it was a dream

Pretty much the same happened the next day and I got another LD! They were kind of short (around 2 minutes) but I forgot to do some stabilization techniques when I was lucid so I'll blame it on that

Ok so, I'm gonna start this night and I'll post my results for Day 1 tomorrow wish me luck bros

You said that your dreams weren't vivid when you wrote in your DJ. Did SSILD make your dream more vivid? How vivid was it?

      Good luck with the attempts!

      Thanks AstralMango!

The dreams I had when I woke up in the morning before doing SSILD (WBTB) were short and not very vivid but the lucid dreams I got after doing SSILD were very clear

I usually have a decent dream recall tho. But the vivid and long dreams I have happen usually after 6:30 - 8 hours of sleep. All my dreams before 6:30 hours of sleep are usually not long or vivid.

That's great IanCrimson! I haven't read the SSILD technique, so I am a bit excited to try it tonight. Could you tell me for how long you have been training yourself?

I'm a total novice! That's the cool part. I just learned the technique like 5 days ago and tried twice and it worked twice!

I intend to practice it for at least 60 days, trying to learn and improve as much as I can and record (post) my results for each day to see how effective this technique can get after some practice.

Hopefully by the end of this experiment I'll be able to induce a LD at least most of the nights.

NO F**** WAY!!! I had another Lucid Dream!!!

      It was weird!

After doing SSILD I fell asleep and started dreaming about being at my grandparents house and then all of a sudden I got a feeling of awareness and the dream scene changed and I was in my bedroom in my bed and I knew it was a dream, but the weird part was that it was a dream but I couldn't move, I was just there lying in my bed and I remembered it could be sleep paralysis and I got an odd feeling, a bit like fear but not so much because I knew it was just a dream and nothing could harm me, I had my eyes half open and I couldn't open them completely, the creepiest part was when I saw a shape of a person in front of me, then I just looked down to not see the creepy person and focused on changing the dream scene by closing my eyes and after a few moments I woke up for real.

It was weird but cool. I have to learn how to snap out of the paralysis and continue with the lucid dream :-)

      Day 1

Attempts: 3 (the first 2 from last week before starting this thread)
      Lucid Dreams: 3
False awakenings: 2 (from the first 2 LDs I had with SSILD)
      Sleep paralysis: 1

Hell yeah! Let's see if this night I can make it 4 attempts 4 Lucid Dreams

Oh, btw after waking up from the LD I fell asleep again and the dreams I had were so damn vivid and long.

      Nooooooo! First failed attempt ><

I didn't become lucid this time, I only remember some normal dreams about driving around the city with some friends.

Something to point out is that I had less than 4 hours of sleep for the WBTB part when I usually have 6 hrs. of sleep for this part.

I set my alarm at 8:20 a.m and I usually go to sleep at 2 a.m, so that's like 6 hours of sleep because I've noticed that my dreams almost always happen between 6:30 and 8 hours of sleep. But last night I ended up sleeping until 4:30 a.m approximately so I slept for less than 4 hours for the WBTB part, that probably has something to do with the failed attempt u.u

      Day 2

      Attempts: 4
      Lucid Dreams: 3
      False awakenings: 2
      Sleep paralysis: 1

GRRRRRR No lucid dream just vivid dreams.

And this time I didn't fall asleep as late as 4 a.m like day 2 but almost.

I fell asleep at around 3:30 a.m, so again I didn't slept for at least 6 hours like the first 3 successful attempts, I really have to work on that. They say timing is very important when inducing LDs and one hour or two could make the difference, so these failed attempts could be because of me not sleeping for the right amount of time before doing SSILD and not because the SSILD technique isn't effective itself. I promise I'll go to sleep at the right time from now on bros, I'll even set an alarm to remind me to do so

      Day 3

      Attempts: 5
      Lucid Dreams: 3
      False awakenings: 2
      Sleep paralysis: 1

Why are you sleeping so late lol? And yeah, timing is very important for WILD and this SSILD. All REM related stuff. Or try waking up late, around 1 PM. Might help (if you are allowed )

Day 4 vivid regular dreams, no lucid dreams.

I went to bed at 1:40 a.m expecting to fall asleep at 2:00-2:30 a.m but I just wasn't sleepy and ended up falling asleep at 3 a.m approximately. I woke up at 8:20 a.m as always, recorded my dreams and started doing SSILD at 9 a.m. I had trouble focusing on my senses without my mind drifting away, I couldn't even complete 2 sets (of focusing on my vision, hearing and touch) and I fell asleep, I have to work on my focus. On the successful attempts I had no problems focusing but these last attempts my mind drifts away way too much.

      Day 4

      Attempts: 6
      Lucid Dreams: 3
      False awakenings: 2
      Sleep paralysis: 1

Hey just wanted to say I've been using ssild on and off for around 4 months maybe longer its a under rated technique, only problem is after doing this technique so long you do seem to become lazy with your focus and it will not be effective like you may be seeing already.. But one tip I would give is to give it all your effort and make sure you are sufficiently awakon before starting it.
Also for me I will do the cycles and after some time i will focus on the back of my head and start imagining pushing my head through the pillow which usually results in me pushing out of my body and starting some amazing lucids so don't give up its a good technique once you get the hang of it
