Help Me Understand: What's the difference between MILD and DILD?

I just want to make sure I'm not using the wrong vocabulary here.

So according to the Wiki here, MILD is when you remember your goal to have a lucid dream mid-dream, by questioning reality or remembering your intentions.

According to what I understand about DILD, it's basically the same thing, am I wrong? In a DILD, you notice mid-dream that you're dreaming (maybe you see a dream sign or notice something ridiculous) and become lucid from that discovery.

What's the difference? Is MILD a variant of DILD? It would seem so...

Again, just making sure I'm using the right words, not that it matters all that much.

      Thanks,
      Jelly

MILD is a type of DILD.

A MILD is a dream in which a memory aid of some type is used to aid lucidity. Memory aids could be mantras, dream signs, associations, ideas, intention, or anything else that aids the memory.

      Dild is a method.
Mild is a technique to achieve the method.

      Dream initiated lucid dream
      Mnuemonic induced lucid dream
      Wake initiated lucid dream

Lets say that there are two entrances to the house. The front door or the chimney.
If I go through the front door, I just walk right up to it, the door may be locked, but if I pick the lock, have the key, or blow open the door with a battering ram, I am still entering through the front door.
      The front door is WILD

Lets say I want to enter through the chimney.
If I go in the chimney, it is a DILD. No matter what ladder, or gutter, or tree, or helicopter I use to get to the ceiling, it is a dild when I enter. For the analogies sake, let's say that mild is the helicopter. You have to remember which house you are going into from memory, the problem is, is that you have been going into the house next door your whole life, and we are creatures of habit.

Now with wild, it seems like it should be easier, since you can just go to the front door without having to deal with the helicopter or anything, but the problem lies in the ability to open that door at the right time, because if you try to open it too soon, you will generally get the wrong door, and if you try it too slow, the blast doors will be down and you won't be able to enter either house, so it will take you a long time to call your helicopter friend.

      Note:
no matter which way you go into the house, you will always leave through the front door.
It is much easier to enter through the front door if you just exited from there.
It is easier to enter through the front door if you are coming from the neighbors house.

I am too tired to know if this made sense... I shall have to read it again tomorrow. Ha Ha.

      Yeah, I like the analogy!

Thanks for clearing that up. So MILD is a tool to achieve DILD.

no matter which way you go into the house, you will always leave through the front door.
It is much easier to enter through the front door if you just exited from there.
It is easier to enter through the front door if you are coming from the neighbors house.
I also like this^ analogy. That's a really cool way to put it.

      Thanks again,
      Jelly

There are two kind of lucid dreams you can have:

1 - lucid dream initiated from a dream itself (dild)
2 - lucid dream initiated when you were awake (wild)

Then we have a lot of techniques!
For example we have ada, in which you're always aware of yourself and the world around you.
That way you can spot differences between the real world and the dream world.
When you spot a difference you'll become aware you're dreaming from your dream itself
      This is clearly a dild.

mild is a dild too, cause you realize you're dreaming from the dream itself
