Any teas help attain lucity/increase dream intensity?

I like drinking tea before I go to bed. Lately I've been drinking a tea called Celestial Seasonings "Tension Tamer," which includes, among other things, vitamins B6 & B12. I'm definately having more vivid dreams with the oddest subject matters, but lucity still seems like something I'm not going to obtain. The main ingredient in this tea is eleuthero, which seems to have an effect on stress and motivation, however drinking it at night I don't really notice anything. I'm not stressed normally, but that could mean that the tea has an effect on that.

I've also tried (however not experimented with) catnip that I've grown, but I don't recall any changes in my dreams. I'm going to do it more often once I harvest the herbs for the fall and dry them out, and I'll also experiment with some Valarian root I have growing as well (assuming I can do it right...). Has anyone noticed Valarian having an effect on their dreams?

At this point I'm more interested in just having interesting, detailed dreams, as I seem to have excellent dream recall, so this is enough to please me. I can't think of any other herbal teas which have ingredients which will help enhance dreams.

Are there any teas (sold at stores or made personally) that have enhanced dreams?

      Thanks .

Hmmm.....I think any kind of mint tea does the trick. I used to drink one cup before I went to bed and it made my dreams noticeably more vivid. Calea Zacatechichi tea greatly enhances vividness and sometimes even lucidity, but it is the most horrid, bitter taste ever. Try some mint tea.

      And welcome.

Calea Zacatechichi sounds interesting, but from the small amount of research I did, it sounds more like a drug than a dream-aid. I'm not looking at getting high off of the tea, and I certainly don't want to experience any hallucinations (while awake at least). It's said it is used as a hallucinogenic by natives, but it also said that all they did was drink the tea, smoke some leaves, then go to sleep. I just want to drink the tea before bed and have cool dreams . Do they sell it as a supplement or in any other form at stores?

Mint suprises me, I have a lot of it growing in the yard, not to mention a lot in the cupboard, so I'll give that a try. Any particular variety?

      Thanks .

      Hey,

Here are my experiences with different herbs, vitamins, and teas so far.

Chammomile: This increased the number of dreams I remember having, but I didn't have enough information to write about them because they were so vague.

Valarian root: Greatly increased number of dreams, but they were so vague I couldn't think of anything to write down.

Vitamin B6: Tried it last night. Ended a dry spell. Recorded seven dreams in outstanding detail (a new record for me). Going to try more tonight to see if it was a fluke or it really works.

I intend on trying Mugwort and Catnip, and I haven't had mint tea in a long time so I might try to see how it effects my dreams..

Over the last month I've become quite interested in medicinal herbs and plan to grow a bunch of my own.

      Hope this helps,

      Nick

I just harvested my Valarian plant today, so here's my thought on a tea mixture:

Tension Tamer + Valarian Root + Catnip.

The Tension Tamer has Chamomile and mint in it. I'll let you know how it goes. Last night I had some tension tamer and I only recalled one dream fully and I couldn't for the life of me remember the other. Catnip seems to have a cery slight euphoric effect on me when drank (of course this could be the placebo effect), so it is possible that it will effect dreams. Once I harvest all of my herbs I will do a lot more experimenting with herbs and post results.

I haven't gone out and bought any vitamin B-6 yet, but today at Trader Joe's I saw a B-6/Folic Acid/B-12 under the tongue thing, and I'm wondering if this would be wise to purchase, or if the other stuff is overkill. I don't really know what B-12 or Folic Acid do, I think B-12 is for increase in blood cells?

      Hello:

There's a brand called Lucid Dream Tea - Enhanced Dream Recall. It's active ingredient is Myrica Gale. One site that sells it is here:

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, it looks promising.

Last night my homemade brew didn't work so well, it seemed to have made things worse.

I added some valarian, peppermint, and chamomile to the Tension Tamer tea. I was almost knocked out as the sleep inducing properties were that good. I had dreams, this I know, but I could only recall very little of one. As I lay in bed in the early morning (on the verge of being awake), I tried to sleep but it was to the point where I was drifting in and out of sleep and dreams in an uncomfortable manner, as this cycle repeaeted itself pretty quickly. I'm also pretty slow waking up due to the tea I imagine. Not groggy, just slow to get up completely. I might give it another try minus the valarian tonight since I don't want to have trouble waking up tomorrow (Monday) morning.

I might go to some stores like Wild Oats and see what teas they have, or maybe a vitamin store.

      Thanks.

this attitude will SEVERELY hinder you.. not just in LD'ing but any goals. Just the statement alone will have an impact on your subconscious. You simply havent had a LD YET. I know you can do it.

PS - Look into seeing a professional hypnotist I hear it can really help (not to mention they can help you induce a LD on the spot)

You might be able to find some capsules or something with Calea Zacatechichi but I dunno.

I wouldn't call it a "drug" any more than you can call any other herb that has some kind of effect on the mind/body a "drug". It helps induce sleep and promotes vivid dreams.

The natives who used it had to have had some secret though that they put in the tea to make it palatable. I tried tea made from it once, and let me tell you... think of the worst possible taste you can fathom... got it? It tastes at least 10 times worse than that.

Needless to say, I threw the remaining tea leaves away.

I wouldn't recommend smoking it either, just because well smoking isn't that healthy for you.

      Good Idea Dream-Scape

I love the herb you mentioned (Calea Zacatechichi) because there are no noticeable side effects - just vivid dreams and increased recall. It's difficult to find, however. The only place I know which sells it is:

      Hello,

Has anyone ever tried that lucid dream tea? I want to purchase some but they have a minimum of six boxes and that seems like alot of tea to buy if it doesn't really help that much.

      Thanks,

      Nick

      Hi Nick,

The active ingredient in that tea is "Myrica Gale"....so you could just buy that kind of tea somewhere else. Myrica Gale goes by other names = Bayberry, English Bog Myrtle, Dutch Myrtle, Herba Myrti Rabanitini and Gale palustris (Chevalier). If you have a tea shop near you, I'm sure they could find the equivalent. I think the most common name for Myrica Gale is Bog Myrtle.

I tried peppermint tea last night, and noticed some results. I had probably four dreams that I could recall, all of which were a decent length, but not long or short. After a little bit of trouble (waking up, not moving, and not having any idea what I dreamt about), I managed to recall everything and record them before getting out of bed.

Lately I'm noticing how I'm having more and more trouble recalling in the morning, like I'll know I had a dream but I will never remember in the morning and throughout the day I will recall everthing.

I think the tea had an effect on it, and I think I'll try it again tonight.

My wife has had a whole bunch of differant teas and a couple that I have tried I had some very vivid dreams. Unfortunatly I did not take care in taking down the name of the tea. it also may have been a coincedence.

      You should check thePharmacy

I tried peppermint tea last night as well, and I had results, but not as many. I only remembered one dream, but it was fairly long (longer than the last four). It's too bad you can only experiment with one tea a night .

Tonight, the tea I'm about to make will include Valarian root, Lemon balm, and Catnip.

As a side note, I read an article on Valarian root and Kava (which I've never used) in the newspaper. The article stated that these herbs, when compared to a placebo, were not effective. In other words, the effects were the same for both placebo and herbs. However I know that there have been many other studies with different results. I don't know what to believe, except that the time I tried Valarian (in a hot brew) it worked. Supposedly Valarian needs to be seeped cold and long, such as seeping it in the morning and heating it at night when you're about to drink it. I'm not drinking it for insomnia though...

Oh and Howetzer, I'm very curious of your wife's infusions .
