      Consistency Issues

Putting it clearly, i've known LDing for a long time, and i've only seen real success back when i was a beginner. I started jumping back and forth in my methods with the belief that nothing is working for me, and i've grown really tired of going back and forth. Not to help it, but i'm afraid of practicing one method for a long time and not seeing results in the end.

Almost always, it goes like this:
      1- Found X method
2- Practice X for a week or two
3- Nothing changes, an apparent lack of LDs
4- Lose motivation and switch to another method

Honestly i'm just afraid of failing in the end, and i lose motivation to continue consistently after a week or two. The fear of being let down, a lack of consistency in my practices, along with my very rare LDs has made me get really disappointed with myself.. It has gotten so bad i'm starting to believe that i just can't do it. What's worse, i'm afraid that i'm practicing a method the wrong way, which makes my trust shatter after those few weeks of nothing happening.

Try going back to your roots and go with the techniques you had most success with. But whatever method you're going with you should give many shots for the king WBTB. I think it's the most solid "technique" out there and you should really read into it.

LD is a skill and skills take training. The more you put work into it the better the results. You have been lucid so you know what to expect, your very own world with limitless freedom and possibilities. Ofc you can do it, you have done it before. Only thing that has changed is your mind-set and that you have somehow generated these selfprisoning negative expectations and disbeliefs in your own skills. Read back on to your own lucids and remember what it's like. Remember how you got lucid and what it felt like to stand there lucidly and being free to do what ever your soul desired.

Also take all the improvements as progress. Last night you recalled a fragment, today a dream = progress. You had a "weird sensation" about the world around you in the dream = progress. You had a pre lucid = progress. You performed a reality check succesfully, but you shooked it off = progress. You realized it was a dream but you woke up immediately = progress. And soon , You realized it was a dream and you had a 10 minute lucid, you made it.

You can always ask the more experienced members of the site if you're performing a technique the right way or not We're here just for that, we want you to get lucid.

Good skills! Hope we get to read about your lucid adventures soon!

First off, thanks for the advice.

Trying out what i did back then sounds like a good idea. I can remember RC'ing a lot and doing WBTB's occasionally. I winded up into trying out all the -ILDs and eventually lost sight of my practice. Still, i had quite a good frequency of LDs going at the time, all of them being spontaneous thanks to RC's. I think i was fairly consistent with my RC's for quite some time, probably a few months and more. Later on i burned out and stopped RCing and as such i broke the consistency.

Looking at it like that, it seems as if my consistency was what gave me success in the first place. Back then the thought of having a good amount of LDs per month was almost effortless. I probably got impatient over time which caused me to end up like this. Part of my frustration was created by times in which i would think i finally got it down, only to go back to square one.

At this point i know, at least, that i'm RC'ing the right way. So i'll leave it at that and do it.
I'm currently giving the consistency a try. I made my target around 3 months.I hope this works out fine.

As idiotic as my mistake is, i recall reading that consistency is extremely important for LDing. There goes all the time i wasted thinking i was incapable of doing this..
