      Make a Dream Pillow

Greetings! I have found that a 'dream pillow' placed under my pillow at night helps to induce and enhance the experience of dreaming and dream recall.
Take a small amount of Mugwort Herb and sew it into a small cloth bag. Place under your pillow and dream on!
Recent scientific studies indicate that mugort, when used this way, stimulates the areas of the brain related to creativity and dreaming. As you sleep and turn, moving your head places pressure on and off of the dream pillow, causing minute particles of the herb to be released into the air which one breathes in. This is a much safer method than smoking some of the newly available aids that may cause lung damage or psychoactive responses outside of the dreamer's intention.

Is this one of those "aromatherapy" deals?... I dunno if I could go to sleep if there was something strong-smelling under my pillow...

      mugwort

No, it's not anything like aromatherapy, not that there's anything wrong with that, if it works for one. Mugwort is a musky, foresty kind of odor and quite pleasant, but not perfumy at all. Also, powdered ginger, about a tablespoon, stirred and drank in a glass of water, three times daily, will definitely increase dream recall. It's good for digestion too! Also, one must avoind refined flour and sugar if using it...

      mugwort

Mugwort can be obtained quite easily at any herbal outlet. Some health stores may carry it too, if they deal in 'bulk.' It only takes three or five grams, which lasts for months in the dream pillow...

I've never heard about ginger helping with dreams before, got any info on it? I love ginger myself, it'd be nice to know it helps.

One Of my adoptions, Spicfiend, grew her own. She did just as you described.
She claimed it had helped her. For the record.

      ginger/mugwort

I'm not sure 'how' the ginger does what it does. What I know from direct experience and also, friends' who have tried it agree, after a few days of drinking the ginger, my dream recall and lucidity reached a level that was quite un-nerving. I wasn't prepared for the results! I would seem to be dreaming all night long, epic, convoluted adventures that would shift into each other and return again, as if several dreams were occurring all at once and my awareness was constantly shifting from one dream to another, back again, on to another, and so on.....
A tall glass of water, one tablespoon of powdered ginger, (the kind you get in a spice bottle-for the kitchen) Stir well and drink it right down, before the ginger can 'settle' to the bottom. Done 3 times daily, it will change one's dream activity drastically with a few days. I wouldn't continue the ginger treatment past two weeks at a time, though, with two weeks break in between.
It's important to avoid refined sugar and flour while doing this. So maybe what's happening is a deep cleansing of the digestive system causes a change in one's chemistry, to the point of effecting consciousness....makes sense to me...
As for using mugwort as a 'substitute' for cannabis, why? It's not wise to smoke it. You thrill-seekers should remember what killed Carlos Casteneda. Liver cancer. Which he more than likely contracted through his unreserved ingestion of 'native plants' to induce the shamanic vision quests he is so famous for writing about... pretty expensive road to fame, death is...
Now, the mugwort in the dream pillow is a safe and proven method of enhancing dream recall. The amount of mugwort ingested this way is microscopic. But, like many homeopathic remedies, the tiniest amount seems to stimulate just the right responses and should not be exceeded.
Those I know who have followed the dream path with entertainment and escapist agendas either give up the practice willingly, out of the realisation that it requires more disipline than they are prepared for, or they develop psychosis and problems with relating to the 'real' world. Either way, one should be sure that their motivation is true on this journey.

      ginger

In my experience, and that of my friends', one needs to drink the ginger in water to properly assimilate it. It may cause discomfort, initially, because the ginger is quite 'hot' and probably helps to detoxify the stomach of impurities fairly dramatically. I find that it takes me a few, and sometimes several gulps, to get it down, with stirring between gulps to keep the ginger from sinking to the bottom before the water is gone.

I just had my first glass.(all the ginger I had left in my house..... almost a tsp) And I jus dindt breathe through my nose and dindn't taste it. It's a good strategy until the end, but I think its better than tasting the whole thing.

I also noticed the ginger was kinda scraping my throat and I knew it was gunna be spicy and I had to eat a donut to get the taste out. FYI

Well, putting the ginger in a capsule might work. It's worth a try, if you really can't handle the taste. Remember that you should also avoid refined foods while using this method. No white sugar, flour, or pork.

Thank you, lizard, for giving us an actually fresh thread!! Both interesting ideas! Have you tried turmuric? It seems to work well for dream recall. I just prepared a sort of... dreaming power formula with my evening coffee. 1/2 tbsp ginger + 1/2 tbsp turmeric + brown sugar + coffee (with milk). I actually feel a unique buzz. Probably placebo.

      Anyway, thank you Lizard!

that's what i was going on

i think i'm gonna go ahead and order the "Creativity" pillow from http://www.longcreekherbs.com/dreampillows.shtml

it's only 11 bucks when shipping is factored in, so it's not like it'll be a big loss if it's nothing special.
