      Whirlwind fall in the nothingness

I've been doing lucid dreams for years but I never tried too much to control or change dramatically the course of my dreams, except from some details. But I've tried two nights ago and it was bizarre.

I Became lucid (in whatever situation) and then decide to try something. I finally decided that I wanted to end up in a paradisiac garden. So I said something like " I'm falling into a paradisiac garden". then, immediately, I started to fall, like in the nothingness or some empty black space.

I was a bit afraid first, but since I said " I'm falling into a paradisiac garden"., I stayed somewhat kinda calm and waited. But I continue falling and falling, like in a whirlwind. I started to be afraid, and I wake up kinda willingly because I wanted to stop to fall.

Should have I waited more and try to control my fear. Why after a few moments falling, wasn't I ending in my paradisiac garden. Was the garden was that far that I should have waited more ?

It's the first time I've tried something like that and I would like to have some advices. And I would also like to know if anybody else here has experienced that whirlwind fall in the nothingness.

I just hope it doesn't mean my paradisiac garden doesn't exist.

You could have possiby doubted yourself as your are pretty concentrated that it was your first time trying whatever it was you were trying.

What might help you is just remembering and maybe even telling yourself, that it is in fact a dream. You have total control. Just expect things to happen. Easier said then done, but just remember that!

Well in fact, while I was falling, I was perfectly lucid. I was totally aware I was dreaming and that I was trying this for the first time. That's why I kept waiting for to arrive at the garden. But I continue falling, and after a little while, even though I was lucid, I started to be afraid. Why didn't the garden finally appear ?

Did you imagine what this garden should look like beforehand? It can be quite difficult for beginners of dream control to create an entirely new scene. Maybe next time you could try imaging what the place should look like, then get to it by walking through a door or mirror.

maybe it means to get to your paradise, you have to face your fear and fall.

I've read a bit in the "Dream Control" section of this forum and I think this is probably where I should had send this post.

But anyway, Dearly seems right. From the "Dream Control" section, it sounds like I should have used a door or some barrier, and maybe visualized, before the "teleporting", what I wanted my garden to look like. Technics.

But I hope that djaio is wrong because if I have to face all my fearsin order to get to my paradise, it will never happen.

But I still would like to know if somebody here has ever experienced that type of falling in the nothingness, while whirling. It was like Alice in Wonderland !

I have a fear of falling too. I don't see the purpose in facing that fear. Anything further than 10 feet is going to break something! Some fears exist for a reason.

I would say you were doubtful atleast somewhat. It shows through the fear you displayed though I believe you will overcome that with more attempts. Lets not forget your mind builds these ideas of what's 'right and wrong', 'safe or not' 'good or bad' ect while you are awake... but it does so for your own good. You can overcome them in your sleep, start small and work your way up.

Edit: I have fallen from a plane high in the atmosphere but not through nothing. Now I want to try!!

Since two posters (HoppyPotty and hOju) told me that maybe I was doubtful, I went to read the information page on Dream Control. It is written "In order to be successful at changing your dreams you have to believe it is possible. If you’re trying to do something in your dream that you don’t really believe is possible, then chances are you will be unsuccessful. You must convince yourself that you are in control and anything you want is possible."

If you mean I was doubtful in that sense, I would say that I was probably in a certain way, since it was the first time I've tried and I didn't knew what to expect.

But at the beginning, not only was I not afraid but I thought it was to be a good first attempt, since it was so intense and kinda magical falling. It's later that I started to be afraid, when what I was expecting didn't occur. Why haven't I reach the garden but have I experienced the falling ? The fact that I started to fall immediately after asking to fall in a garden doesn't really mean that I was believing it is possible ?

try excercising easier and more apparent control IE: imagine a tasty apple behind you, picture it perfectly smell color ect if you can, then turn around and eat it . It will be there, maybe not the first try but if you believe it will show itself. Practice like this builds confidence.

      Dear Caro,

      A wonderful dream.

Ordinarily it takes the recitation of a very powerful Mantra in order to summon such a Spiritual Vortex... but you got one, and then did not know what to do with it.

You see, in such a Spiritual Vortex, you can have an almost unlimited choice of where you can exit. We spiritual people often use the opportunity to evoke our favorite God, Goddess, Saint, Angel or whathaveyou.

But it will happen again. Only for next time prepare yourself with a plan for what you will want to do. I must warn you that perhaps you can think too high. I evoked the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Hail Mary Prayer and then blacked-out within the Vortex and remembered only when I was exiting my destination and coming back down. They call that an Ineffable Experience. But we generally prefer effable experiences, don't we.

Thank you all very much. I guess next time I want to change my environnement, maybe I'll first practice some easier and more apparent control, as h0ju suggested, and then take a door as a passage.

But Leo Volont's answer interested me very much, as usual. I also had the feeling I was not in a regular place, like created by my imagination. How could I have created such a place. I was very lucid and I had the feeling this place was not a "dream" usual set, but a very "real" thing.

I almost hope this fall in the nothingness will happen again, if it was in fact a spiritual vortex. But I still wouldn't know how would I get out of the vortex, so to end up in my garden. I think I have evoked my garden while I was falling, and I still continued falling.

don't be so literal. falling doesn't have to mean physically falling off a cliff or an airplane or whatever.

what's so bad about falling? we fall asleep. we fall in love.
