      problem

okay so i realize.. i seem to only become lucid when something is wrong.. like REALLY wrong.. because while i'm dreaming.. even if it is weird.. in my dream state i think it's absolutely normal.. and i can't seem to get lucid because i think it's normal.. then i end up waking up and remembering the whole dream without being able to get lucid. errr.. any tips? i know it's good to have reality checks and tests but.. how do i do that? i don't control my dreams so i can tell myself to check my watch in my dream.. things just happen. and i don't think i have a dream sign either.. and YES i should start a dream journal.. to see if i do have a dream sign but i mean hmm.. i'm not really a morning person and to write in the morning before school is not good for me.. is there anything else i could do? and besides.. i think i have a pretty good grasp on dream recall.. maybe not super details but i don't even remember details too much when i wake up either so.. what i retain during the day is usually what i got right when i woke up.

      please help.
      thanks.

First of all about dream recall - a dream journal is very valuable, cause it improves your recall overall and allows you to look at the longterm patterns of symbolism that you see in your dreams and possibly find new dreamsigns.

As for weird stuff - for a long period of time I been doing reality checks (by looking at clocks or text) through the day and when something strange is happening. For example my friends start talking around me and I totally have no idea wtf they are talking about - first thing I do is check the watch... I see a guy in a corny pink shirt > reality check.
Somthing even slightly out of ordinary happened > reality check..

I've also tried affirmations to perform reality check whether anything strange happens and there was some success, although not as much as I've expected...

You said you have a dreamsign - try telling yourself WHY your dreamsign is a dreamsign before you go to sleep. For example: "that special classroom I see is my dreamsign because I dont go to school anymore" make up as many reasons why your dreamsign defies logic or why you should perform a reality check when you see it

I also have to go to school, but I jot down a few things quickly when I wake up, or draw a simple picture to remind me about my dreams when I can put them in my journal when I come back.
Before I started my journal I didn't think I had a dreamsign, but after I had write them down so that I could compare them, I found many things in common.

Try to do as many reality checks as you can, and question what is going on around, or how you got to your current situation. If you can't come up with a good explaination for what is going on around you, you are probably in a dream.
The tutorial section has loads of info on reality checks, induction techneques, etc.
