After finally successfully doing a WILD all the way into a lucid dream last night, I decided to try again today during a nap...I got very close to the sleep paralysis stage, but I keep waking myself up to almost normal conscious awareness as soon as I realize how close I am, or that I am watching an elaborate scene of hypnagogic imagery--what is the most successful method for you to get to the sleep paralysis stage? I have been bouncing back and forth between trying to concentrate on the HI and take an active role in what I'm seeing, or just trying to sit back and suddenly find myself in an HI-dream...I think maybe the reason for my failure just now during the nap was on account of not being tired enough, and feeling constrained by time.
Also, I notice that each time I am slipping away and snap back to attention to start over again, I am extremely aware of my breathing--it's almost as if when I am immersed in the HI and lose focus, my breathing immediately becomes a responsibility of my conscious mind. Any thoughts on this?
