      Relaxation Music

I started this thread to talk about music that is used to relax and or influence your dreams.

I believe that my dreams are very much affected by any sounds around me, being a musical person I enjoy a very well mastered piece of music. I listen to music when I am about to go to sleep, sometimes I fall asleep with the music playing. After a while I find I am dreaming, the music that is playing changes the mood and feel of the dream as it progresses. I have found that listening to a classical theme induces a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. While on the other hand, death metal is also one of my favorite genres, this brings on an intense, highly memorable dream.

Also, the sounds of rain, forest life, beaches are a very good way to relax and influence your dreams.

Having played around with this trick, I have found that all different types or music can change your dreams in ways normally not achievable (except when Lucid).

Does anyone else use this trick?

p.s, I searched for this and found nothing, so, sorry in advance if this has been done.

I recently switched back to listening to a classical music station as I sleep. Not only does it help relax me, it seems to be able to seep effortlessly into my dreams. And my dreams are more detailed and solid when classical music is a part of them.

I've now began doing reality checks while I listen to classical music in my waking hours.
Hoping this will work towards triggering more LD's.

I have found that classical music influences your dreams by means of a calmer, more relaxed atmosphere. The structure and detail of the dream is also affected.

      Number one choice for me.

I, personally, can't fall asleep if there is music playing or people are talking. If there's a beat or voices, I'm up. However, I have developed some great visualizations and my dad has also had some interesting dreams based on music from movie soundtracks. Anyway, it's just an idea.

This music method sounds interesting. I think tonight I'll try the classical music. Most of you seem to think that works best. I'll report back if anything special happens! I don't have that amazing of dream recall but maybe this could help me. seeing as most of my dreams are pretty bland when I'm not frustrated or stressed out, this might help spice up the day-to-day dreams i have that I can never remember! Haha, thanks for the idea!

I find that if I fall asleep with music playing, it helps my dream recall a lot, because I can often actually hear the music quite clearly in my dreams. I'm thinking that perhaps I could use it to trigger lucidity, by reality checking every time I hear that music (it's usually one particular album by the Cocteau Twins). Never tried classical music though, maybe I should.

I got nothing from the classical music. I fell asleep thinking about getting lucid and dream recall but when I awake I couldn't remember any dreams.

Before I go to sleep I ALWAYS listen to "La Femme d'Argent" by Air.

This gives me a perfect sleepy feeling 8)

I really like to sleep to "new age" music - any electronica or ambient music without rigid beat. It is so easy to just let it carry me off to a very restful place.

I also compose that type of music (among other styles.) There is a link to a sample of my work back in the newbie thread... though somebody said they couldn't hear it. It seems to be working fine now.
