Napping a quick way to Lucid?

Napping a quick way to Lucid?

A few hours ago I lay down for a nap. Only a few minutes passed and I was in one of the most vivid Lucid dreams I have ever encountered. I could not believe myself; I had to do a number of Reality Checks to reassure myself that I was dreaming.

I don’t know if this has anything to do with the fact that I did not want to become Lucid or the fact that I wanted to have a quick sleep before I went out. This probably has something to do with WILD’s and the fact that I didn’t actually want much sleep, if any.

      Any views?

Yeah, It's widely accepted that short naps are a good way to acheive lucidity. I think it has something to do with your body not completely shutting down, thus giving you more awareness than if you'd actually dove into full, consciousless sleep.

      napping

Agreed, this is a technique which I used often. Why wait for night time to dream? I say we head straight for it any way we can.

Most of my LDs are during the day anyway, so time of day is not a factor in successfully attaining the LD state.

Of course, if it takes you several hours during the day to have them using this napping method, perhaps you should leave it to night time...after all, you need to function in the relative world also!!

      Happy dreaming.

Yes, napping is a VERY good way to achieve lucidity. although most of us dont have time to nap

you have a better chance depending on when you nap, if, for instance, you napped about 2 hours after you normally woke up, you should be able to get into REM sleep fairly quickly. dunno about later in the day...

On that note, I have a problem with napping. It seems that whenever I lay down to have a nap I cannot fall asleep. Even if I'm tired I can't nap mid-day. Is there anything that could help? Thanks.

I get the same problem. Even when I'm tired it takes some time to get to sleep in a nap...but only when I try to nap in bed...hmmm.

Maybe I just don't nap enough. Hell, I'm gonna go try to nap right now!
