Between waking and sleeping - that bit to take advantage of!

To test this, you need a day where you can sleep in and have free time all day because you will probably sleep in later than usual if you try this.

If I sleep in, when I'm waking up that's the bit in the dream where I realise I'm dreaming and go lucid, but it only lasts for three seconds before I wake. I was thinking, if I really tried hard, I could go back in the dream. This morning I tried it, and shouting once, "I AM DREAMING!" made me halfway back in, but then I gave up.

Has anyone tried the yelling-on-the-brink-of-awakeness thing?

Hmm, odd. Tell us more about your experiences... I'll try this technique the first chance I get.

All I can tell you, is that there's this bit in the mornings - only mornings where I sleep in - where I can feel the waking world and hear what's going on, but I'm still in the dream. Most of the time, I wake up about five seconds after, but I found that yelling, "I'll stay in this dream!" drives away the feeling of my covers and hearing my sisters bicker upstairs (which they do every morning. ). I can still hear them a little bit, but less, and the dream feeling comes back. But this morning I just thought, "Oh, screw this." and woke up. I found that if I naturally wake up early in the morning, it doesn't work because I'm not halfway through REM.

I'm not sure how long a lucid will last if this works. I'll try it again tomorrow, since I've got nothing on until afternoon.

Same- when im hitting the end of Latter rem cycles in the morning I will hear people from my waking life in my dreams or my alarm in my dreams for about a few minutes that I wake up. I will start using this as a dream sign but it prolly wont last long.

Yeah that happens to me a lot, where I am half awake half asleep--I can feel my body laying in bed but still see/hear my dreams. But it's more like a day dream...kinda like I'm watching a holographic movie, but not really a part of it (since I can feel myself laying in bed). Better than not dreaming at all I guess but not as satisfying as a full blown lucid dream...I should try to convert that into an LD next time...
