Placebos arent always pills, sometimes they are ideas. If the beleif they instilled in him that marijuana was the 'cause' helped him to heal the psychological problems he was experiencing then let him beleive After all, labeling oneself as 'insane' erroniously ascribes a sense of permanence and hopelessness to it- a detriment to healing... Eventually, hopefully when sufficiently healed, he may realize that making marijuana a scapegoat was a placebo effect to open him up to the possibility of healing, and that the healing of his mind ultimatly was done by his own mind- it will likely be psychologically empowering. It would be inadvisable for him to take mind altering drugs at this point anyway so what does a white lie matter 
Hopefully, to maintain the placebo effect, alberthendriks wont beleive Anything I just said until the time is right that is.
