      The calming candle light

I use a candle as part of a technique.
I am guessing because it has such a calming effect that it is like visual meditation.
I stare at the candle for as long as I can. I try to keep a conscious perspective of the candle but sooner or later the sleep eventually overrides my conscious thought. These often lead into late stage hypnagogic imagery! ----> Then lucidity!

By chance, this isn't related to the TV WILD I used to have as a child that I told you about, is it?

Don't think that is the safest Idea I have ever heard..Leaving a lit candle in your room...you never know what might happen..Especially if it's close to your bed..

I have tried it several times. Maybe ten. It has worked three times. I guess that is not good odds but since it did work it may very well work better for others.

And Yes..Liam Angel & Courtney LOL! Here here on candle safety. I would most likely never have tried this method if my wife did not always burn candles. And she is always diligent about blowing them out before she goes to sleep.
I have also tried to stare at our lava lamp (much safer for the bachelor) But I have not had any success..............yet!

I usually just stare at a candle and try to picture it in my head as best i can in hope that i will have higher vividness in my dreams. I learned this technique from the Dream Bible.
But unlike Howetzer i put my candle "Out" so i dont burn away.

TV WILD is when you watch TV when really tired, keeping your mind wide awake, but during that time, your body is falling asleep, and after a while, you can no longer hold the remote (the SP state), and you should fade into a dream (probably inside the TV show, but who cares as long as it is a WILD party there).
I also do that with video games as well (nothing better than pausing your game, entering SP, and then a WILD, in 3rd person, kind of controlling the characters!).

I used to use a candle too. I've got to start doing this again--instead of going to sleep with worthless crap tv.

I used to use Castanada's technique--stare just about the candle flame. Very relaxing. When I began to get hynogogic, I blew out the candle and went to bed.

I'm glad someone reminded me of this. I've got to get my act together.

Sounds kinda like the lotus flame technique, but more concentrating on staring, rather than visualising! I dont wanna burn my cool Mozart candle though : (
