      confused

i am a little confused, because this reality check method doesn't seem very promising to me. in my dreams i don't think about anything, i don't ask myself who i am, where i am, even if the place is completely strange and unknown to me, i only go along with what happens, as if a remote force controls my thoughts, actions, everything. is this normal? how should i ever attain lucidity through reality checks (which i am performing several times throughout the day correctly and with the intention to regocnize next time i am dreaming) if i don't have the ability to think rationally in my dreams?

It can happen if you are a very deep sleeper.
I found that there is a type of dream in which *YOU* act, not your subconscious mind. You make the desicions and stuff. In such dreams you can use reality check.

To get lucid in other dreams you should perform something like a "general awareness test" - look around the room (or whatever) notice people, sounds, shadows, light, etc. It helped me to become lucid on several occasions...

Hmmm maybe you could make something that beeps louder? (Not too loud as to wake you though.)

      Or you could try WILD.

I think the point of RCs is to get into a habit of checking so often you do it subconsciously. That way when your dreaming you do a RC without even thinking about it. Problem is if you only do it when your watch beeps then thats when you will check, If you don't hear it in your dream your out of luck.

Do you sleep next to the computer? If you do I know some programs that will help you.

yes my computer is a few meters away from me, but I don't think it is so good if I waste that much energy every night, just for this beep.... and the thing is I can't fall asleep very comfortably if my computer is running

      same problem

i know exactly what you are talking about i have the same problem. I was into the subject of lucid dreaming about a month ago but i gave up because i couldnt do it. I never feel like i can step back and ask myself if this is dream perhaps i am a deep sleeper. I become very frustrated. The closest i have been is when i called people in my dream but dismissed it as a dream i had earlier. i need help

Dont give up. Even *thinking* about LD's will result in few spontaneous LD's. More effort you dedicate to learing lucid dreaming, more results you will get.
If you will get a false awakening, this means your power and awareness are building up and you are likely to get your first LD soon.

what WILD method are you trying? for deep sleepers I suggest being awake at least and hour or 1.25 hours before lying down again. If I wake and try to do dreaming and I am very groggy, I stay up at least an hour. If I have been sleeping lightly, a half hour is enough.

What you do while you are awake for an hour really matters too. Reading is excellent. Combine it with very deep full breathing and staring at your hands for like 5 minutes, that is very effective. Lastly, have fun and giggle to yourself when you are about to trying lucid dreaming! Works soo well when you don't have a care in the world

What you have to do is incorporate your lifestyle habits into what would be like a ritual. For instance everytime you open or close a door look down at your watch.. Then look at it again.(in the waking world.) Make this a habit and I promise you that whenever your dream starts from an enclosed location and you happen to open a door thus badda bing! you're habits are playing out in your dream. Try that out you will not go wrong
