I wouldn't say they occur at random since they happen at regular intervals, but yeah, the way they're occuring makes it hard to figure out what works and what doesn't.
Last night continued this pattern (I wrote this when it had been three days since the last lucid, so I expected to have follow up material soon). I entered a lucid when somebody killed me with a brain suffocating ray gun. Except I didn't die. It makes sense, being dead sort of frees you from any current obligations you have with the dream, but this is the first time it has happened. I achieved a modest control feat of having an ocean appear around the next building I walked by, before flying cockroaches of a species that can't fly distracted and awoke me. I plan to go into an ocean eventually. They've appeared on their own quite a bit.
I'm a bit puzzled why I woke up, usually it's because it's already past 1 pm where I would wake up anyway, but this lucid occured mid morning. Another problem is I think my mind is keeping pace with all the things I expect to see in dreams now. I mentally went through a long list of potential dream signs, none of which appeared or happened in the series of dreams this morning. Other than being in class again, but I forgot to remind myself of that dream sign lately. Slippery.
My slacking has already started, I didn't write in my journal about any of the other dreams (actually I will now, since I remember one about number theory). Four days seems like a long time, especially since it's summer break and I have loads of time to focus on this, and moreover since the lucids are usually brief.
