It's not possible to have a lucid dream as soon as you fall asleep when you're going to sleep at night, because you don't get into REM-sleep immediately, and you need this phase in order to dream. It is, however, very well possible to have a lucid dream without waking up first. A DILD doesn't require you to wake up before having it, unlike some other techniques like WILD and MILD, because in DILDs you realize you're dreaming during the dream itself.

I would recommend you first learn to have DILDs before you start teaching yourself any other techniques. This is because DILDs are normally the easiest technique to learn for someone who hasn't had any LDs (there are exceptions. Some people are naturals at inducing WILDs, but you woulda known had you been one).
Your best chances are if you try to do RCs during the day. Being as aware yourself and everything around you as possible. In order to be sure you're thinking about whether or not you're dreaming, try to see everything in waking life as if it were a dream. This will help your awareness.
Also, autosuggestion can be very powerful when you're trying to induce a DILD. This simply means you tell yourself you will have a lucid dream soon when going to bed. There are couple of things you need to remember when doing this: focus on actually having a lucid dream while telling yourself you'll have one. for instance, think of yourself doing a RC in a dream. Also, don't demand that you have a lucid dream that same night. Doing this isn't bad for the technique itself, but can cause you to become demotivated if you don't succeed, which will only lower your chances. A good thing to say to yourself would be: "Tonight or in the near future, I will have a lucid dream".

Last but definitly not least. Keep having a lot of patience. Even when you've been trying for 3 months with no succes don't doubt the fact that you will succeed soon. Never think you're not gonna be able to do it. If you're patient and confident, you will have a lucid dream soon enough.
      A dream
is a reality that others cannot see.
      Reality
is a dream you share with others.

Yes it is possible to have LDs in first dream cycle.

Its possible to have LD in a short nap.

Generally REM periods in later sleep cycles are longer and WBTB is a helpful technique.

to become lucid first work on dream recall.

I first learned LDs through WBTB and MILD combined.
