      hand rubbing for lucidity works!

When I read about rubbing your dream hands together when you first enter into a lucid dream from the luicidity institute, I tested it out that night. IN my dream I remember being in a car as some character from a story I'd been reading and didn't want to get out of the car. So, recalling all about rubbing my hands together in the dream, I did soand just like in real life, the woman who was driveing the car who was also speaking to me about something boring faded out, like when you don't focus on the other's words as I rubbed my hands vigorously together. Slowly, the fading dream became clear again and the motion of the car and its engine running smoothly felt so intensely real I was totally delighted by the discovery. So, the dream lasted an extra ten minutes I'd say before I was forced to wake up when my body decided it had enough sleep for the night. It was just so awesome how it worked. So, just remember rubbig your hands together in the dream and even looking downward at ground also works. I also looked down at the sidewalk in my dream as I got out of the car and walked up to a house in the extended version o of the lucid dream.

That's sweet! So did you use it more as a reality check?

I wasn't quite sure what hand-rubbing was supposed to do, but I've found that it can be very useful in stabalizing the dream environment as well as even keeping you in the dream. Every time I've become lucid everything just goes black and I get the feeling that I'm going to wake up, so I rub my hands together. My theory is that you mind is then focusing on the feel of your dream body more than your waking body so you are able to stay in the dream.

      Congrats!

Oh, good, that jibes well with what Aquanina said about 'looking' at the hands to extend Lucid Dreaming.

Apparently any attention paid to the hands is very helpful.

Maybe even listening to the Hands. It reminds me of the famous Zen Koan -- "What is the sound of one hand clapping". Maybe listening for that will extend the duration of a Lucid Dream.

Yeah, I agree that hands are just good for Lucidity. I think it is because you see them so much, and use them even more. Your hands are basically always in use. Even just sitting, watching TV, you are generally doing something with your hands.

Listening to hands...what a great idea! I shall try it next time I achieve lucidity.
