Cool

ok i just had the best fild of my life! i was gven superpowers as an experiment. then there were these dides hunting me, so i was fighting all of em.... i could not fly, but i actually did fly a little one time. i focused on flying and remembered a post that i saw, and focused my energy on flying up and away, so i flew a little. then i did like 1000 backflips and landed in a perfet handstand and killed the rest of the guys hunting me! :yumdumdoodledum: :yumdumdoodledum:

ok, back to the FILD. i woke up, half asleep. i moved my fingers, but realized that waked me more, so i thought that it might be a dream since i was half awake t=when i stated. so i waited fr a dream patiently, and in a matter of secodsi got control, not just lucidity.

did i do it right, or can i have some tips?

Cool dream about flying sounds great. With the FILD its sounds like you gained lucidity so it looks like you don't need any tips.
So congrats

fild stands for finger induced lucid dream. You do a wbtb and just move your pointer and middle finger ever so slightly keep doing this for a while then do a nose rc. and ur supposed to either be dreaming or still awake.
its somthing along those lines. i personally havent had one yet

I've probably become a skeptic since nothing has worked for me in these past 6 weeks, but this method sounds really weird...If I haven't read about you actually having a LD I wouldn't believe it works....I might as well try that too, only two more nights until the weekend .

When FILD did work for me, I had the best longest lucid ever. Unfortunately it never worked again altho I tried for a long time afterwards. I may start trying again now; it's been a while. Hopefully...

As far as I remember it goes like this:
you go to sleep and wake up after 4/5 hours and when you're getting VERY sleepy again, but still conscious enough to control your finger you start tapping your index and middle finger one at a time. You do this for a maximum of about 5 minutes; you do a reality check and if you're dreaming, great! if not, don't keep on tapping your fingers, that doesn't work, you should wait a bit until you're very sleepy again (doing a reality check while awake wakes you up).
Hope this helps!
I do remember a tutorial though... I'll see if I can find it!

What is FILD for me?

It's like taking candy from a baby. It was exactly 9 days ago when I read about lucidity. I never knew anything about it. So this week I tried mostly MILD and a couple times WILD. Yesterday I saw this tutorial about FILD. So, let's give it a try. When I woke up very early in the morning, I forgot about it. But 2 hours later, I remembered.

I had this very vivid and lucid dream that lasted about 20 minutes. I still can't believe it worked in one shot though. Tonight I'll try again.

ok, i do not get it:

i have been trying FILD over and over again, but it has only worked 3 times total, and the third time itwasnt very lucid.

i woke up, moved my fingers, tried not to think about anything, and it did not work...

wtf is wrong?

Thanks a lot Luci! I've read the whole thing and it sounds very interesting, I'm trying it tonight, setting my alarm for 5 am (going to bed at 10, hoping to fall asleep by 10:30) ! So good luck to me...

FILD, that's actually quite interesting.

I've only just woken up after practicing my WILD techniques and felt a new sensation whilst relaxing.

During the HI stage my finger felt. . severed. Sort of like an OBE where my Astral finger was raised above my real finger, I tried moving it around a little but turned back into my real finger again.

Related to FILD?

FILD is a very important technique. Here's why. The portion of the brain called the cerebellum is responsible for all muscular movement. When we fall asleep, it switches off (so we don't physically enact our dreams) and takes on a new function, which is to store dream memories. That is why when we awake, we can stimulate dream recall by moving something such as an arm or a leg -- or a finger. By moving the finger while falling asleep, it appears that we keep a small section of the cerbellum active, which is enough to trigger lucidity.

The big problem with FILD is the reality check. The usual RC, which is to pinch your nose and try breathing through it, is too disturbing if you are not yet asleep and can keep you awake. Perhaps another RC is to try and poke your finger through the bedsheet, and sink it into the mattress. By the way, I myself haven't had any success with FILD, but mainly because I haven't really tried it much. However, I think its a really promising technique and definitely worth exploring.

sounds good. i think my problem last night was that i was waay to anxious so i ruined it for myself by doing RC too much. i think this time i am going to wait for that tingly feeling that people say they get, supposedley signaling that you have moved to dream state.

Best to wait until you feel yourself dozing off. If you wait until you expect to feel tingling, it may be too late.

I had to get up 6.30 am these last couple days, so this morning was the first time I could give it a try again.

Today I failed to get a good lucid dream and by looking back on the events, I know exectly what went wrong. I woke up around 7.00 am. While I was laying in bed, my mind wasn't relaxed at all. My finger-movement kept me awake. So I just went back to sleep. Woke up an hour later and I could recall 2 or 3 normal dreams.

Right now was the prefect time to do fild for me. Half awake, half asleep I waited for the crucial moment to move the fingers. Next, I did a nose RC. Ok, I'm dreaming. But from this point it went wrong. I jumped out the bed to quickly. My room was covered in darkness and my vision wasn't very clear. I looked down to my hands, which were like 10-feet away from me. Anyway, I rubbed my hands together, and shouted some commands. Nothing happened. I felt the dream fading away. The light switch was on my right. I hit it a couple of times. But it didn't mather anymore, because I woke up after 2 seconds.

From now on I'll remember to do the last part of the tutorial correct. I was so close.

i know why u failers are all failing.

you are waking up between REM periods, so u cannot go back into a dream and face darkness. the trick is to estimate when u r in REM andwake up then to go back into the dream.

You do it for 10-30 secs, but don't count.
Just guess, kinda.
