When you're saying to yourself, "I will wake up after every dream period and I will remember my dream," how long do you have to say it for? Do you have to say it until you actually fall to sleep?

I tried it last night, I did it for about ten minutes, but then I stopped about thirty seconds before I fell asleep. Would that affect it? I didn't wake up once in the night, and I almost remembered my dream(s) in the morning. I was sitting there, pen in my hand, staring blankly at my DJ, in a futile attempt to remember at least what one dream was vaguely about. But no, nothing.

Help?

It doesn't matter that you stopped just before you fell asleep just as long as going lucid was the last thing on your mind.

I didn't wake up once in the night, and I almost remembered my dream(s) in the morning. I was sitting there, pen in my hand, staring blankly at my DJ, in a futile attempt to remember at least what one dream was vaguely about. But no, nothing.[/b]
Well you could have woken up but was very tired and went straight back to sleep or you just had an off-day where it didn't work. Just keep trying and you'll get there.

If you couldn't remember your dreams then write down what you were feeling the moment you woke up.

Hope this helps.

WAIT, you just jogged my memory.

I did wake up in the night, once. The only problem, was that I couldn't remember my dream at all. I lay there for a couple minutes, trying to remember. But then I didn't, so I rolled over and went back to sleep.

Also, the only thing I remember feeling was a slight increasing of my heartbeat as I woke up -- maybe because I was doing so during the REM period, or anticipation of being lucid for the first time? Or an effect of the dream I'd just had?

ah dont worry about it man dream jornals are hard to start. just keep at it! also if you had a stressfull day it makes it way harder to remember your dreams too. but it gets way easier eventully! trust me

Believe me, my days are NEVER stressful.

And good, that made me feel confident.
