Hey guys. I'm not new to this forum necessarily, I just tend to lurk a lot. Anyway, I've been trying to get lucid for a few months now, and I'm not really getting anywhere. I have a dream journal and usually have 1 dream per night that I can remember, sometimes 2 or 3. Should I just be patient or is there something I'm missing?

As for WILDing or WBTB or the like that involve waking up again, I can't really do them. I have to wake up for school on weekdays, so the only time I would be able to do them would be the weekend.

And, I don't know why, but my dreams rarely have obvious things that I would be able to tell I'm dreaming from. Once in awhile, I have dreams where I do something outrageous but most of the time, I dream about school or a museum or something which is hard to find things to induce RCs with. Any way I can fix this?

Sorry about all the questions but I figure, I made the account, might as well use it! lol

      Hi Jispen,

Are you doing lots of reality checks? If you dream a lot about school, and I assume you go to school, try do them there a lot, maybe everytime class begins or ends, or especially if something weird happens. Look at people around you in your classes, see if everything seems normal and you recognize the class you are in, and you know what is going on. Maybe every test and quiz too. Maybe there are certain people that come up a lot in your dreams, if you look back at your journal, and you can use them as cues to do an RC. I always dream about people at work, so I try to use them as dream signs, altho I admit it doesn't always work.

It is hard to do WILDing especially when you have a tight schedule. I haven't been too successful with that either. If you can get back to sleep easily, and it doesn't make you too tired, maybe you could try to wake up once or twice at night, and then try FILD or another technique. It sounds like your recall is pretty good, so that is the a good start. At least if you have an LD, you will remember it!

I am not an expert and my LD's are not as often as I would like, but those are a few things you can try.

Thanks for the reply Moonbeam. I used to do RCs, but then I sort of got tired of them I guess and stopped them. I still do them every once in awhile, but I'll try to start doing them at the beginning of every class.

Kind of made me realize I am not doing as many as I used to either. I think I'll try to start doing mine more consistently as well. I do think it helps, even tho most times I realize I'm dreaming, then do an RC out of habit. But it helps keep the mind on it thruout the day, I guess.

do lots of reality checks, and try mild. wbtb cuts out alot of your options man why dont you just give it a try? i have school too but i still use wbtb all the time. just use a really light alarm to wake u up. that way if you are way too tired and absoulutly need to sleep all the way till you wake up, you will probably not even wake up to it cause you will be in too deep of a sleep.

Nope. But it helps to try new things. Try music and WBTB, it's the only thing that's given me lucids so far.

Look what you wrote. You tried it once - try it again! It might work the next time. If you want, try waking up, and then listening to music, as you go back to sleep. That should last about twenty minutes all up.

lol, it didn't happen the first time... hah, have confidence in yourself man! The first thing I read when i came to this site is, "Some people lucid dream within the first week of practicing, and some people have taken up to a year for their first lucid dream."

      My situation was like yours...

I've been trying to induct my LD for 1 month, and nothing (I've just improved my Dream Recall and now I think it's excellent&#33, but when we are trying to have our LD we don't realize that our Recall ability is so important as our LD induction ability... That days I thought that if I had one Lucid Dream I'll remember, but now I know if our Recall is not in shape (hehehe) we can easily forgot our LD!!! EASILY! Probably the first one is SO exciting that we never forget it, but when you have more... it starts to depend a lot of your DR.....

So, take a break as I did, I stopped thinking about LD for 1 week and after that I had my first one... Think about that you have nothing to lose...
      A new beginning?

Thanks for all your replies everyone. I might try WBTB, the only thing is I only have an alarm that I can set for one time, so if I set that alarm to wake me up for WBTB, I wouldn't have one to wake me up for school.

      it does work!

and if you cant wake up without an alarm, just go buy an alarm that allows you to set multiple times. If it will help you possibly have a lucid dream, its worth the investment.

I use a regular alarm clock to get up for work and i use the alarm on my cell phone if i want to try a wbtb technique.
      am i dreaming?

Love slips through my grasp once again

Its funny how wrong you can be about a person.
you think they love you, and it turns out to be a lie.
you think you know them, and they turn out to be the exact opposite

Hey. I have read the posts, from what I have read...you are acting as if you will die if you don't have a lucid dream. I am a trombone player, I didn't get extremely good overnight. It takes practice. You may have already had a lucid dream or two by now, but almost no one remembers every dream they have. Patience. Try this also (after you have taken a break)...before you go to sleep every night, psyche yourself up to realize that you are about to go to sleep. And when you wake up during the night, do some reality checks. IF you wake up in the morning, do some reality checks. Look for your own dream signs. Once you have develped a HABIT of this...then you might end up doing them during a dream. The whole point is, if you realize everytime you wake up that you were just previously asleep, then you should realize it in your dream.

Thanks for all your help everyone. I have another question. Lately I've been going through a dry spell where I can't remember ANY dreams at all. I have a few ideas of what could be causing this. Could it be that I'm not getting enough sleep (11:00-6:30) or watching t.v. before going to bed?

It may be stress, the little amount of sleep or the television! WOWWW I helpeed you a lot now! kkkkk

Stress kills my RC and consequently my LDs... And the 1st murderer of my dreams is my alarm clock, as I'm on vacation now he has gone for a while...

If you are used to watch tv before sleeping it's ok, but if not: turn it off!! The samething for music before sleep, if you are not used to it, stop using it!
Try to sleep 1 hour more than this... Try to go to bed at 10 PM!
      A new beginning?
