I think part of it might be that the "best" parts are pretty exciting, and that's too much to handle while in a dream state I guess.

The same thing happens to me all the time. As soon as I am going to find something out or get where I was headed or meet the person I was planning on meeting, I wake up.

I have had strange wakeups from dreams before, once i was not dreaming but i was aware that i was asleep, everything was black and i wasnt awake i knew that, because i couldnt move or see, then i herd a whisper in my head saying wake up and i IMMIDIATLY woke up with a bit of a jolt.

Another time i was having a sort of Lucid Dream, i could fly around and stuff and just as it was getting fun i without any control floated into my room and into my bed then i woke up, i wasnt sure when i woke up if it was real but i looked around and nothing was out of place. I DIDNT WANT TO WAKE UP!!!

You were in the sleep paralysis stage. The whisper you heard is known as hypnogoggia (actually called hypnopompia, I think) - it is a hallucinatory stage of falling asleep we all go through, yet hardly ever remember in the morning. Hypnopomia is also referred to as "the old hag".

Next time you're in the weird state, try to keep in mind that it's all a hallucination and focus on keeping your awareness, because dreaming is the very next step from there.

This always happens to me too. i agree with most of you, it's probably because i keep getting too excited and wake up. It kind of sucks because it's really rare for me to get lucid, then when i finally do i get excited and wake up. gotta remember to stay calm nest time!

When I was younger, all I would think about when I would become lucid in a dream (I didn't even know what lucid dreaming was back then), was having sex with pretty girls, yeah, I know, not very original. Realizing it was just a dream, and I was about to kiss a girl, I'd wake up. (With a SP moment.)

I didn't know why that always happened every time I became lucid. I still don't, but I kind of understand a little why now.
Sure, why not?

i suppose that this is what separates the newbies from the experts?....
Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.
