All my attempts at a WILD have been right before sleeping. While it seems I've been close a few times, I haven't been successful. Would my attempts be more successful after having slept for about 5 hours? I've read some commentary from individuals saying to do it after waking up from sleep, but since my attempts thus far have been so close I was under the impression that it was also something that could be done right before going to bed.

      Thanks in advance.

Well, of course it can be done before you're going to sleep. It's just harder to do, since you're most likely tired without any sleep for a while(which may lead to a deep sleep first). However, it's certainly possible to perform a WILD before sleeping. I think it's better to do it after 5 hours, though... Since you're more likely to get REM right away (because you've already had some sleep cycles, so REM stages get longer), and you're more sleepy than before going to bed (so falling asleep (even consciously) shouldn't be too hard). You could also perform a WILD in the middle of the afternoon (that's what a friend of mine almost did). It really depends on you. Everybody is different. If you like WILD'ing before sleeping, then go ahead, it's certainly possible. Keep it up, and don't forget to tell us about your attempts and soon-to-come successes!
      Sure, why not?

It IS possible to WILD at the first sleep. I did that and succeedly WILDed few times.

The thing is, it's a lot harder to accomplish and takes insane amount of patience to be able to do that. Although, it's a good mind exercise practice for deep meditation. Speaking of that, I should start practicing that too since I haven't done that for ages. Thanks for the inspiration.

Dice: I love your avatar too! So warm and cute.

Don't trust what you are seeing right now because you might be dreaming right now. Be LUCID! I repeat, be LUCID!

Yeah, the problem is that I usually fall asleep very fast when I've only slept for 4 - 5 hours, and I don't feel like being awake for 30 minutes.

Thanks. Pandabears are just awesome creatures. I like your avatar too.

Last night I did a WBTB and attempted WILD but could not fall asleep (although I was tired). I have this issue of not being able to sleep while concentrating on anything...my mind has to wander.

Either way, I ended up having a DILD, to which I soon woke up. I entered another lucid dream immediately through VILD....faded out, then entered again through VILD. It was a struggle for sure to stay in the lucid dream, but it was a success to have another. This was my first lucid dream in a few weeks.

Wow! Congratulations! Well, I guess you can let your mind wander, as long as you know that you'll have to bring your mind back after a while before you fall asleep. I think that is able to work. Robert Monroe used a similar technique in order to get SP.

Actually, now that i think about it. I'm not sure if I let my mind wander so much as I stopped thinking about WILDing and lucid dreams. It may well have been the last thing on my mind when I fell asleep (inspiring the DILD). The best, though, was when I woke up from the initial lucid dream and re-entered the lucid state fully conscious just by picturing it.
