Well, of course it can be done before you're going to sleep. It's just harder to do, since you're most likely tired without any sleep for a while(which may lead to a deep sleep first). However, it's certainly possible to perform a WILD before sleeping. I think it's better to do it after 5 hours, though... Since you're more likely to get REM right away (because you've already had some sleep cycles, so REM stages get longer), and you're more sleepy than before going to bed (so falling asleep (even consciously) shouldn't be too hard). You could also perform a WILD in the middle of the afternoon (that's what a friend of mine almost did). It really depends on you. Everybody is different. If you like WILD'ing before sleeping, then go ahead, it's certainly possible. Keep it up, and don't forget to tell us about your attempts and soon-to-come successes!
