Okay, I feel like I was so CLOSE to finally achieving a WILD and if someone can explain what I did wrong, I'll be ever so grateful!

I went to bed around 11:30 and began using that reverse blinking technique. After about 2-5 minutes of lying there doing that, I suddenly felt a profound weariness and just let my eyes close. Instantly, I felt my body begin to increase ever so slightly in body temperature while at the same time I felt a gentle paralysis take hold of my limbs. I could still hear the sounds of the real world like my washing machine in the background and all that, but I definitely felt like I was a bit closer to sleep.

Unfortunately, that's where the excitement stopped. Instead of patterns emerging in the darkness as I held my eyes closed, I saw nothing. There was one curtain of light, perhaps, but it didn't do anything. Eventually, despite my attempts at remaining conscious, I fell asleep. I awoke around 3:30, stayed up for about a half an hour reading about lucid dreaming, and then went back to bed to try WILDing again, but I had even less success that time around.

So how do I progress further in WILD instead of just sitting with my eyes closed in semi-paralysis with no dreamworld appearing at all?

Note: To make matters worse, when I do dream after I've fallen asleep, I get really banal dreams that aren't obviously insane enough to be dreams. And I keep forgetting to do reality checks when I'm asleep, even though I'm trying to get into the habit of doing reality checks in real life.

I think you want it too much. The fist step is trying to relax, then you can do a technique which suits you the best. For me it is counting my breath till at least 150.

Images don't always appear so don't be waiting for those. You have to be active in keeping yourself awake, I would suggest you check out billybobs tutorial in the tutorials section.

Only some people experience visuals while trying to WILD. To stop yourself from falling asleep too quickly, I'd suggest counting your breaths, or focusing on the ringing sound in your ears.

I rarely have visuals. Dont get too excited, let the falling asleep and visuals affect you passively, dont pay attention to them. Act like its really boring, while still acknowledging they're presence.

Hey, thanks guys, I'll definitely try counting my breaths. I usually fall asleep before I know it, though, so how do I manage to get myself in a trance and relax while at the same time concentrating on not losing consciousness?

Hey...honestly...I think you're trying to WILD at the wrong time of day. You are doing this when falling asleep at night? Your mind/body don't want to bother with WILDing at that time, they just want to...go to sleep. So it's hard to stay conscious. I think you have to be pretty experienced with WILDs to accomplish them whenever you want. Make sure you get 5-6 hours of sleep before trying to WILD...

Or do what I do...if you have the luxury of napping/sleeping in. I wake up around 9am...then usually take a nap around 11am...and I always get lucid then. If you can't sleep at those times...then try it after several hours of sleep.
