      Hey,

I'm new to this forum so firstly hi to all. Urm, reason I'm here is I used to LD all the time! From as early as I can remember I used to do it. I thought it was normal and that it was a natural part of sleeping. I had great control of my dreams, being able to go where I wanted, meet who I wanted, drive what I wanted. If there was something I wanted to do and dream about I would. Up until about 3 month ago I moved house, and moved into a place and my new flat mate was talking about Astral Projection etc and got onto Lucid dreaming, I hadn't even heard of it before as I thought this was just a natural part of your sleep. As she explained more what it was and what a gift I had to be able to do this with such ease I decided to read up more on it and try figure out what it was I could do! I also had many, many experiences of Sleep Paralysis.

The problem now is that since I have read up on the subject I can no longer experience LD's. Its been 3 months and not one experience! I can still remember dreams, I remember several each morning which I have always been able to do but can no longer take control - I wonder if maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm now conscious of this gift or if there is some other underlying factor in this... I just want to be able to LD again.

      Does anyone have any ideas?

      Thanks
      Adam.

Take a look at the tutorial section of dream views it has a lot of techniques for inducing Lucidity. I know you said you have been able to remember a lot of dreams already but are you keeping a dream journal? That might help.

I still await my first LD so... Anyway welcome to Dream views

Hey...welcome to DV. Yeah it is pretty awesome that you've been able to LD naturally for so long. You know...I used to have tornado dreams...ALL the time. I don't know why, I just always dreamt about tornados. Running from them, hiding from them, etc. etc. Anyways...once I realized that I could use tornados as a dream sign (a dream sign is something that commonly occurs in your dreams and can therefore help you to recognize that you are dreaming)...I stopped dreaming about tornados! And I miss my tornado dreams, but ever since I thought, ok next time I see a tornado I'll know that I'm dreaming...I haven't seen any.

I don't know WHY but I imagine that you're experiencing sort of the same thing. Other people have also said that once they were made aware of their dream signs, that they no longer had dreams involving them. Ironic, eh?

I think your best bet...would either A. try to forget about lucid dreaming altogether and maybe things will go back to how they were before you lost your LDing ability, or B. try to induce an LD with any of the techniques in the tutorials section

      Hope that helps.

      Thanks for your replies

Aquanina - I never had any dream signs. Its difficult to explain but my dreams had always been real to me, like i always was so involved with them and they just seemed like everyday life you know? And I guess since i was so aware of my dreams and they were so real once i realised this i just took control and did what ever i liked. And this would last for ages!

Recently though my dreams have become vivid and less real almost like im watching them from a distance, almost like im not in them if that makes sence. I think this might be my problem. Its almost like my mind is not letting me get deeper into the dream and really experience it. I have a theory that its something else affecting it, like something on my mind or something else that wont let me relax in my dreams, but im stuck for fixing it.

Finally my first sign of getting this back!

Ok last night i drempt about driving a really nice car, however it was a convertable, and i wanted the roof off, but my flat mate work me up, and i was quite enjoying my dream, so as i usually do i try go back to the dream, and did this ok, and then as i got back into the dream, started to take the roof off the car when i realised this is what i wanted to do, then realised i was becoming lucid, and for the forst time ever my dream started to black out, rather than just carry on as it would do.

So i remembered i needed to look at my hands to stay in the dream, but i couldnt and it got black too quick. But hey, looks like i could finally be back in the game

      Will keep you posted

jealousy, utter jealousy. I've been on this site for a while but have taken a break because I got so frustrated. I think I"m going to try again though. I just hope this time it will work!

Perhaps the pressure you put on yourself to LD is psyching your subconscious out. Just go to sleep, and if it happens, it happens. You are a natural LDer, so I don't think you will lose your talent for it. Just don't think about it, and see what hapens.
