For anyone interested here tibetan mediation. This is what people orginally did to have a lucid dream before LeBerg who in my opinnon is over rated. Apparently they could lucid dream all night however it took ages to achieve and they had to practice a hour a day. Well i have started trying it again. I will concentrate at night on mediation the most and when i wake up at 5oclock to WILD.

If anyone interested i have picked a flower out of leonardo da vichi drawings to concentrate on. I feel really sick i been doing this for about a hour and a half i might stop. Although my headache went when i tried it, but i cant shake off a feeling of sadness.

Also you should do it because it has been scientifically proven it good for you http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn8317
They found that meditating actually increases the thickness of the cortex in areas involved in attention and sensory processing, such as the prefrontal cortex and the right anterior insula.

“You are exercising it while you meditate, and it gets bigger,” she says. The finding is in line with studies showing that accomplished musicians, athletes and linguists all have thickening in relevant areas of the cortex. It is further evidence, says Lazar, that yogis “aren’t just sitting there doing nothing".[/b]
Ten volunteers were tested before and after 40 minutes of either sleep, meditation, reading or light conversation, with all subjects trying all conditions. The 40-minute nap was known to improve performance (after an hour or so to recover from grogginess). But what astonished the researchers was that meditation was the only intervention that immediately led to superior performance, despite none of the volunteers being experienced at meditation[/b]
Well is this a good enought incentive to try it.

Actually, I am in the middle of a book called: "The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep" it is very interesting. I'm hoping that it will help me with WILD. So far I have only had limited success at real meditation though.

btw, if you are interested in the book you can order it from Amazon

My thoughts were clearer then ever before and I could feel every part of my body. I feel totaly energized right now and I've decided to do that for an hour every day if possible.[/b]
I got that feeling too and vivid pictures. However it was more depressing then energitic. I also gave up meditation because it was too easy however this is harder. I will try concentrating into the darkness of space before attempting a WILD.

definitely going to give this a try and see how it works out (y)

edit: tried it for ~30 minutes. The first time i tried to keep my eyes open all the time, they started to burn excruciatingly after 5 minutes, but after that small dose of pain, they only burned after i had closed my eyes as i finished . It is an interesting feeling having fluids run down your face from all the orifices situated there ( i have a cold) and watch how my brain started interpreting visual signals strangely.
The things i couldn't manage were staying absolutely still, because from time to time muscles spasmed, making me move and i couldn't control the involuntary swallowing reflex as saliva filled my mouth and my sweater

and seems like it made my cold recede for now - my nose is not blocked anymore!

Well i tried at night in total darkness. The result were scary but energtic. You cant focus so space after a while had a watery effect the best i can describe it is slivery wine floating in space or millions of tiny bubbles dancing. It was amazing. After a while i had hallucination and when i closed my eyes it was like looking into a dream. Then i had a scary hallucination of two small people running past me. Also their were faint images of people floating around.

Try a more comfortable position you dont need your legs crossed e.t.c. to meditate i think that more of a religious thing then a meditative thing. However keep in mind about the three thing like fatique e.t.c. at the bottom of it.

Thanks for the link. I try and meditate regularly. The form of meditation that I do uses the breath as an object. I think that this is preferable for me as it is soft, and tends to have a natural calming affect, it keeps the attention in the body too which helps to calm the mind. i also think that it has the potential to really aid Lucid Dreaming, although i am quite new to this and do not have a great ability to induce them and keep them stable, but I am practising.
Meditation also has many benefits besides just being an aid to LDing and is thoroughly recommended. Naturally it requires discipline and practise too!

      thanks again

I have read "The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep". Tibetans buddhists, in particular those from Tantra and Dzogchen traditions, already knew about lucid dreaming centuries ago. The book gives you some techniques to help you become lucid during your sleep, but the main point is learning to be aware firstly in daytime. Pay attention to what you are doing, saying, thinking, to where you are, to your body sensations. Not just an hour a day, what they mean is EVERY MOMENT OF YOUR LIFE. That is what they call PRACTICE.

And the interesting thing is that being aware during the day will help you become lucid in the night. And viceversa.

      Good practice, then!

Orignally i did try this. However their were no results and it was pointless to me. Then i tried this at first your eyes hurt however that goes away in about three days of practicing for an hour. In normal meditation your dont get anything as vivids as this so if i was you i will change to this method it hard for about half an hour but then it get really easy. You should try it for a hour if you dont like it then go back to the breathing technique.

This is proberly where the idea of RC came from.

I was meant to read a book on tibetan yoga however i havent gotten round to it.

Well i think i might try the second technique in the link natural zhine all night. I attempted last night but it got really weird and i chicken out abit also i had school and didnt know what it will do to me. On a link on the first page it says how a part of your brain increases as it get more blood flow i wonder how long that takes.

i did it again today for about half an hour and this time my eyes didn't hurt at all! the only thing still inhibiting me is me failing to sit on a chair without involuntary movement.
The swallowing reflex has subsided somewhat but an arising problem is that my eyes tend to lapse into twitching fits after some time. And it's bloody annoying if you drool all over your shirt.

At least this exercise has shown me that i am not as good as i previously thought at keeping my mind blank and concentrating on one thing.

I've been having trouble keeping my mind from wandering. I have been focusing on my breathing as well as an imaginary ball of light on my forhead. Last night I practiced for 30 min and I had some mild visualizations but that was about it. Any suggestions?

I had that problem so instead of visulization i choose a drawing to look at it helped a little. I did the excersive and i was just looking into the darkness and forcing my eyes to open. I entered the dream however i heard some body talking about muders, rapes and dogs. The next thing i was hiding from a dog which i had to strangle so it fell asleep. I rid away on a bike and met with two other people however three dogs were chasing me on a bike. This is proberly been the nearist to a nightmare i have had in about a year. They were really mean dogs too like a pitball and it really hurt as i got bit and looking around seeing three dogs scare me half to death.

I was half sitting down and half laying down. Put it this way i was really comfortable so my body wasent the problem. When i woke up i was laying down however i dont remeber stopping and laying down. I am having trouble remebering. I think i might concentrate harder however your eye naturally cloose and it really easy to loose consciousness. Your head does hurt when you wake up that the only problem. However if you do wake back to bed it really easy to get to the HI stage.
