ive been getting very annoyed recently because i keep doing rcs in dreams and failing them. i got myself into the routine of doing reality checks regularly (i usually try and breathe through a pinched nose and look twice at text, that sort of thing, and i do it whenever i think about lucid dreaming, which is quite a lot).

i remember now at least three dreams where ive done rcs and come to the conclusion that i wasnt dreaming...and i wake up feeling very stupid.

does anyone have any good rcs that never fail, or good ways of remembering to do them? im frustrated because i would have had several lucid dreams by now if my rcs had worked.

Also i wanted to mention a dream i had the other morning. I seemed to be on the edge of a lucid dream, but i kept waking up. I was having a converstation with someone in the dream, but it seemed lke every time i blinked i woke up. I was so tired i managed to fall asleep again instantly and re enter the dream, but i still kept waking up. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Just curious.
I'm in the certain part of maybe...

Hmmm... weird, i use the same rc too, and always when im doing it, it always triggers lucidity in my dreams, maybe try to remember that pinching your nose triggers lucidity, and ask yourself are you dreaming, this should be enough to be lucid
The pinching nose rc for me is 100% best, it never failed me, you can try to put your hand through you other hand too.
Cheers

For me, in peroids when I do lots of RCs, I half-consciously start to expect them to fail, and then they often fail in dreams too. One that has never failed me that I know of is jumping up in the air (just a small jump) and feeling the gravity. When I dream it's like I am light as a feather. Jumping around is a good way for me to stay lucid and it's fun as well. I don't usually do this RC around people though.

this is weird. like a month ago i was going to sit down in my spanish class. as i sat down my friend pulled the whole desk away. i fell. now whenever i sit down i hold the chair, and think about ldings, this helps. i found that a dream sign is that i relax, sit on my couch.

Yo. Missed a couple opportunities eh? That sucks...

Anyway, if you're looking for a new RC to try out, I suggest using the digital watch technique. It's the only RC I do and it's sparked around 20 of my lucid dreams with a 100% success rate.

Besides being reliable, I also find it to be the easiest RC around...just look at your watch, look away for a split second, and look again. Doesn't get much easier than that. On top of all that, think how many times you'd look at your watch to check the time...I do so many times per day without the intention of performing a reality check, but end up double checking the time every time just in case. That way, even if you didn't look at your watch for the sole purpose of performing a RC the whole day, you still probably got several RC's in just because you were curious what time it was...or someone else asked you, whatever.

Point being...I love my digital watch technique and if you give it a try, you might too.

What reality check failed the most? The words one or nose one? If the nose one is failing a lot it's probaly because your dream body is a bit more stable than most. Then your might fail a lot on the nose rc o the hand though finger rc or ones like that. I find that if the looking at letters twice failed seems odd... rc's that have to do with exterior items seems work more often.

I agree. The digital wacth one is the one I used and it never failed. Also I think numbers are more likly to change than letters.

I do the nose and watch RCs. They've never failed me. Also, I'm never without a watch, (or my nose) so they are always accessible. Now I've pretty much reached the point where I become lucid without an RC. I suggest examining your environment and looking for small changes. If you notice something, (e.g. Deja Vu) don't dismiss it, really think about it. Hope that helps!

Wow - you are lucky!
I have never had a lucid by spontaneously doing an RC - I only ever use them to confirm.
However you MAY find that to tie your RC to your learning/ thinking (audial, kinesthetic, visual) mode will help.

See this link fine tune your RC method

There's another link in my sig.

sweet dreams
