      here goes a fast guide

ge to your bed. make sure you are comfortable, and that you won't have to get up because of phisiological emergencies.

close your eyes, and let your body relax completely. now, focus on something substantial (your body; your breath; some external sounds; etc) and remember not to move from now on (not even a single toe)

as you keep a clear mind, focusing on whatever you chose (don't focus on your own thoughts, they will make you doze off. as I said, focus on somethign substantial), you will notice your body gets more and more relaxed.. it will eventually be so relaxed and comfortable, that you don't want it to move

you might feel some hallucinations already at this point, and they happen because you are drowsy. just forget them and keep your concentration. don't move at all: hallucinations can trick you into moving your body, avoid that the best you can

eventually, you will feel your body gets numb. you won't be able to move it without breaking your concentration. by this time, you won't really feel things you are touching anymore, which can lead to strange sensations like you are going through objects or your own body.

congratulations, if you made it so far, you're in SP..

but remember: SP is not really a paralysis.. it will block almost all unintentional movements; but if you try to move your body intentionally, you will be able to do so (therefore, don't "test" yourself to see if you're in sleep paralysis yet. you will know it when you are)

using that method I can get to SP in 15 minutes, maybe less, depends on the night

guess that's all.. any doubts, feel free to PM me or to leave a comment on my profile page

Just so you know, the guy above is lucky. I think it's hard to induce SP without patience. I've tried and after sitting there for about an hour focusing on my breathing I got pretty damn mad and give it all up. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I always just got it naturally whenever I got it. Another thing that might help you ,while you are doing what the guy said above, is to lay on your back maybe. Sometimes that can help some people. I've also noticed that whenever I get SP it was always because sometime during my sleep I had rolled onto my back. I'm almost positive that it's why it even happens to me. Have fun.

For me I get to a point where I can't fell my limbs. I know they are there but I can't tell if they are touching my pillow or underneath a blanket. Is that SP?

Yes. I've reached that point aswell. I thought my arm was under my back, but it was just besides me

I'm gonna try above mentioned techniques.

Ok I a question from Kromoh's post. It says to concentrate on anything else besides your thoughts. Would saying things to yourself to make yourself confedent be considered focusing on your thoughts? And if your listening to music, is it alright to sing along with it?

No. You can not move at all, except for breathing. Anything else will break the paralysis and your concentration. Focuse on the sound of your breath, and you should be fine.

the general consensus is to concentrate on your breathing to lul you into SP, but there must be other good things to focus on, because deep breathing is a somewhat hypnotic rythim, and always seems to put me to sleep. any other good sugestions on what to focus on?

The pillow your head is lying on. The feeling and the warmth, focuse on that.

      Why do you want SP?
I can WILD without noticing any SP. If you are a visual person then I would just stick with focussing on creating a dream scene to step into. Monitoring your body, I think, is a bad idea - you want to be in a dream not in bed paralysed.

I have made it to that point, but I'm not seeing any hypnotic imagery.
I was lying in that state for an hour and a half in my bed and no HI.
So I gave up. when I got up I had a hard time walking I felt very dizzy.

Yeah, I have the same problem as Peppy. I've already tried concentrating on my breathing to relax, but after an hour I just give up. It seems to keep me awake.

I don't recommend concentrating on breathing. It brings attention to any uncomfortable sensations in your mouth and throat (too dry, itchy, feel like you have to swallow). My only successes with WILDing occured when I focused on a single thought (usually involving what I'd like to dream about). Also, I distinctly remember a couple reverse blinks in both cases, unintentional. I could've swore I felt my eyes twitching. It seriously freaked me out.

Thank you for bringing the central logic back to what attaining SP is all about. =)

My problem is that I can't get past the hypnogogia. Well, I can (and do so naturally), but then I feel wide awake!
